We utilized the online reservation service with a follow-up call to an answering machine. We arrived 45 minutes prior to the ride. There was no one in the office. The trail tour got back late and the guide informed us we could not ride because there were not enough mounts. I would offer the following: if you use online booking,... More

Paul R. Please contact me at 843-556-8137. I would like to discuss further the situation you described. Our online system does adjust for inventory so I hope to solve that situation if it is not functioning properly. I also cannot speak further to your review without your last name. Thank you, look forward to hearing from you. Mark McElheney More

What a nice surprise to find this wonderful stable in the heart of beautiful Middleton Place. The horses were not your typical "guest ranch" horses, and the leader matched us up perfectly with the riding skills of the guests. My only complaint was I wish the leader had some sort of sound system so those of us in the back... More

It is next to impossible to speak to a live human being on the phone at this place. I tried calling to make a reservation over the phone but kept getting their voicemail so I booked online. You have to pay the full amount of the ride ahead of time, which did not make me comfortable at all. Our ride... More

In response to this review, the party was refunded their money promptly despite their cancelling within the 24 hour cancellation policy. Every effort is made to reschedule rides for whatever reason. I have no interest in keeping money we have not earned. On the day is question there was rain throughout Charleston. However, it is typical Charleston Summer weather for... More

I was able to book and pay for our ride on my phone for myself, my sister and two nieces. Dave, our tour guide matched us up with great horses. I'm sure all of them were great. Beautiful ride near Middleton Place with spanish moss covered trees. Pretty pastures with dozing horses. Breath taking views of old rice fields. A... More

I went expecting a great time. I got way more than that. It has a very friendly guide. You go through the forest and around a swamp. If you are in the Charleston area you must visit this attraction.

We completely agree with GipsieGirl's rating of Best Hour Long Trail Ride Ever as well!! Middleton Stables is an easy location to find, just a short drive from Charleston, which is very convenient! The property is beautiful with very well kept stables & horses, and huge Live Oak trees draped with Spanish Moss. The ride includes lovely shaded paths through... More

We'd toured the Middleton Plantation before but the trail ride allowed us to explore the more natural and "wild" parts of the property. We didn't ride directly through the formal gardens or up to the house or anything. The trails are in a different area than the plantation formal gardens. We were a group of seven adults and everyone enjoyed... More

I highly recommend Middleton Stables for the beautiful scenery of historic Middleton Place, rightfully listed by National Geographic among the top 50 outdoor destinations in the U.S. Not too shabby. :) The horses are great, and our guide picked a sweet, gentle paint for my mom, who wasn't very experienced and a bit nervous around horses. She absolutely loved the... More

Would love to know who your guide was for your ride. I have two, Andy or David. If you can't remember the names if you could tell me what day of the week you rode I can figure it out. Glad you had a great time. Thank you for the review and riding with us. More

My husband and I had our first visit to Charleston last week. This was definitely on the top of the list for favorite things that we did. The people at the stable are very friendly and know the history of the area well. There were 8 people in our group. We were near the end of the line and weren't... More

My friend and I are residents of the Charleston area and made plans a few months ago to try horseback riding this past Saturday (May 18, 2013). Well, the weather held up and things went on as planned. It was the first time for both of us and we both are so happy we did this and we'll probably go... More
