Owner description: Many thanks to all my guests who have launched me onto Trip Advisor. My tour is Monday through Friday starting at 9 am with breakfast on the Battery, going through the gates and front doors and into my friends' historic Charleston houses and gardens. You are invited in for a refreshing and hospitable tea party at my home overlooking the Ashley River at noon at the end of the morning tour. The goal is to be faithful to the Southern history and to give you the passion of a Charlestonian as you are treated like a guest, not a tourist.

Three long-time friends traveled to this beautiful city and had a wonderful time! We started our visit with Laura's tour. She graciously offered to change her usual morning tour to afternoon in order to accommodate our schedule. Our tour started with a tea-party luncheon in her charming home. Lunch was delicious and included some of Laura's unique recipes, along with... More

The previous review gives an excellent commentary on many of the things we saw and did while recently in Laura's company. (No need to recount all of that.) But, it's Laura herself that made Charleston and its history and that of the South come alive for us. Laura is both a person deeply ingrained into the City's culture today (witness... More

This was a very unique experience for a couple from California who wanted to know more about life in Charleston as it once was and still is today. We were warmly welcomed by Laura when we arrived at her home. We were introduced to her 7 other guests. Then we began our 4 hour adventure with a hearty breakfast in... More

The tour was beyond expectations. A must do in order to get an historical vibrant feel for a wonderful city. It's charm and character hidden behind walls and gates came into view and it was breathtaking! Ended with a delicious tea party. Charming from start to finish! JKTimmons

Laura is a font of knowledge about Charleston and it's history. She leads a tour through the historic area (peninsula) that is bar none the most detailed and well researched tour that I have ever taken. To be able to visit private gardens and homes that belong to friends of Laura's were a special treat. And the food, oh my,... More

This is a fantastic tour that I would highly recommend. Laura, our guide had such a contagious passion and love for history in charleston, and I left our tour very satisfied. You would be missing out big time if you didn't do this tour because it was the highlight of my 5 day stay in charleston.

Laura Hipp is truly a gift to all! She owns the company and gives all the private tours. From the moment I called her to set up our tour, we formed a special connection! She helped me plan my trip to the area around my girls who were 9 and 11! It was one of our best little trips ever!... More

If you are visiting Charleston for its history and Southern charm, do not miss this tour. Laura, a native of Charleston not only is very knowledgeable of the city's history and heritage, she let's you experience it by going into these private urban plantations occupied by descendants of its earliest families. This tour is a gem not to be missed.

A fantastic experience for discerning fans of British-style tea service, colonial and Greek Revival architecture, lush flower gardens, and Southern history as most Yankees have never heard it. Highly recommended.
