Many thanks to all my guests who have launched me onto Trip Advisor. My tour is Monday through Friday starting at 9 am with breakfast on the Battery, going through the gates and front doors and into my friends' historic Charleston houses and gardens. You are invited in for a refreshing and hospitable tea party at my home overlooking the Ashley River at noon at the end of the morning tour. The goal is to be faithful to the Southern history and to give you the passion of a Charlestonian as you are treated like a guest, not a tourist.

My lucky son just got a new job in Charleston! So my husband, son and I decided to spend a gorgeous Friday morning with native Charlestonian, Laura Wichmann Hipp, touring "her" town. She is such a charming and gracious host, overflowing with love and historical knowledge of this enchanting city! Imagine enjoying a lowcountry breakfast buffet upstairs in the historic... More

I found the information for this private tour in a murder mystery book series set in Charleston but written by a Minnesota author. How very fortunate for me that I took a look at the resources listed in the back of this book because that lead me to Laura Wichmann Hipp and her fabulous tour!! Charleston is a city of... More

This is an excellent tour! Would highly recommend this for anyone. Laura's knowledge of the local history and her acquaintance with may of the historic homeowners made this such a personalized tour. The breakfast over the battery looking out onto Fort Sumter was first class. The homes and gardens on the tour were stunning and culminating the afternoon with lunch/tea... More

Had been on several very good walking tours of Charleston and wanted to do something different for a birthday, so we chose this unique tour. It starts with breakfast in the 2nd floor dining room of a historic home overlooking the water (Battery), visits gardens and sites in the downtown area, and ends up over an elegant lunch table in... My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Laura and June. Unlike the usual group tour, in which you tour as a group, we felt like our tour we conducted by a knowledgeable family member. We began with a lovely southern breakfast served at The Palmer House B & B (circa 1884)with a harbor view of Fort Sumter. After... More

My wife and I were very impressed with Laura's knowledge of Charleston's history and events surrounding the Civil War. I am not a Civil War buff, however my wife is as well as being very well read. I did thoroughly enjoy the tour and learned a lot from it. Laura is literally a walking history book, as well as being... More

We visited in September 2014. It was a highlight of our trip. We are booking Laura for another tour in March of 2015. Highly recommended! Randy and Caryn Allar, Independence, Ohio

Three long-time friends traveled to this beautiful city and had a wonderful time! We started our visit with Laura's tour. She graciously offered to change her usual morning tour to afternoon in order to accommodate our schedule. Our tour started with a tea-party luncheon in her charming home. Lunch was delicious and included some of Laura's unique recipes, along with... More

The previous review gives an excellent commentary on many of the things we saw and did while recently in Laura's company. (No need to recount all of that.) But, it's Laura herself that made Charleston and its history and that of the South come alive for us. Laura is both a person deeply ingrained into the City's culture today (witness... More

This was a very unique experience for a couple from California who wanted to know more about life in Charleston as it once was and still is today. We were warmly welcomed by Laura when we arrived at her home. We were introduced to her 7 other guests. Then we began our 4 hour adventure with a hearty breakfast in... More
