Guilds our guide was so knowledgable and entertaining. We did the Upper King Street culinary Tour. Started at Hom Restaurant which was delicious and then walked to Sugar Bakery. The cupcakes awesome. Two other restaurants tastings were big. A very nice way to meet people and enjoy the food and a Guilds many stories.

My husband and I went to Charleston for a long weekend and we're so glad someone recommended this tour! We went on the downtown tour to 3 different restaurants: Southend, Burwells, and a rooftop restaurant. With 8 different courses- we were stuffed! All the food was great and with so many restaurants to choose from in Charleston this was a... More

Hubby and I had a ten day vacation throughout the Southeast. While we were in Charleston, we went on both the downtown and Upper King St Food Tours. I have to say I enjoyed the downtown tour more. Both were great though. The downtown culinary tour started at Southend Brewery where we enjoyed fried green tomatoes, which I have never... More

My husband and I took a short vacation to Charleston and the Concierge at our hotel recommended this tour. Glen was our guide on the Downtown Culinary Tour and he took us to 3 restaurants in the historic downtown area. We had a total of 8 different plates of food in 3 hours. The food was great and while we... More

What a wonderful way to spend 2 1/2 hours thanks to the tour guide, Henry "Hoon" Calhoun. Visiting the restaurants was great and the history and personal stories portrayed made it a fabulous tour. It was informative, entertaining, and well worth the money spent for the tour.

Our guide was warm, funny and informative. Met some great people and enjoyed 8 courses of delectable southern fare from She Crab Bisque to Shrimp and Grits. Highly recommended!!

I teach cooking classes so am picky about my food. Giles did an outstanding job of pairing the history of the Upper King area with restaurants I would not have found on my own. All the food was delicious. One of the highlights was he actually had a key to unlock the gates on a cemetery and we got to... More

My husband's company annually arranges for a tour in Charleston for the spouses. Typically, we've toured a historic house, which are quite lovely. This tour was out of the ordinary in that respect, but it was the BEST tour we've had in the 15 years I've been coming to Charleston. Highly recommend it for many reasons: Hoon Calhoun, our tour... Who would think that a kitchen tour would have so many dimensions? The tour led by Hoon Calhoun was such a treat! He has a depth and breadth of knowledge about Charleston and life in the south, as he should since his family has been here since the 1600s! His stories are amusing, touching and quite funny - this is... More

Hoon Calhoun gave us an amazing glimpse into the Charleston restaurant scene and gastronomic history. We live here but had no idea of the richness. Thank you!
