The food at the restaurants was wonderful and our guide, Charlie (I hope that is the right name :)), was knowledgeable, personable, and fun. I wish we had been able to book the tour on day 1 of our visit because I definitely want to eat at the 3 restaurants: Southend Brewery, Eli's Place, and Leaf. My mom was unsure... More

Took this tour Sept. 29th with Glen Morehead. I believe he said it was his 675th tour. You wouldn't have know it. He was enthusiastic, knowledgable and friendly. Made an excellent tour even more enjoyable. Our thanks. John/Sandra Marietta, GA

Recently went on the Upper King Street Tour with Guilds and it was a great time. We went to 3 different restaurants and 1 bakery. The food on the tour was wonderful. It was really cool to see a different part of Charleston and taste different types of food. This tour didn't just highlight the food, it include a lot... More

This is a must-do in Charleston. Glen, our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the restaurant scene in the city. I met some lovely people and had such a good time. I had no idea we would get such delicious food. Definitely do not eat lunch before you go. Great experience!

I'm giving this 4 stars, my husband would've said 2 or 3. (He's not a very adventurous eater). Some of the samplings (on the Upper King Street tour) included fried calamari, a turkey burger, mini cupcakes, mussels with pea soup, broccoli and cheese cornbread, and shrimp/sausage/pepper grits. It would've been helpful if the website listed a sampling of the restaurants... More

With so many restaurant choices in Charleston, this tour, guided by Glen, not only proved to be gastronomically over the top,...but was also educational and entertaining. Bring along a healthy appetite and a pen for the many restaurant tips you will receive. All 5 courses were delicious and filling. Wish we had done this tour the first day of our... More

We did the Upper King Street Tour. Our guide was a Charleston native and seemed to know everyone! This was more of a history lesson than a food tour, but the stories were wonderful and the food we did have were outstanding. Only actually visited three restaurants and a bakery. Still, we were full by the end of the tour... More

You don't have to be a foodie to enjoy this tour, especially if your guide is "Hoon" Calhoun. His delightful anecdotes and deep appreciation for all things Charleston combine the culinary arts with the history of the city, leaving you with a wealth of knowledge and samplings of delicious food while hearing from local restauranteurs. Only thing that I would... More

We've just returned home from another wonderful visit to Charleston. One of the highlights was the Upper King Street Culinary Tour. We request Hoon Calhoon as our guide and were again delighted to have him host our group. Hoon is an event by himself with wonderful stories of old Charlestown and a knowledgeable history of food and how it came... More

I highly recommend that new and returning visitors sign up for the Charleston culinary tours. Glen provides a fabulous introduction to the food scene in Charleston and introduces you to local and innovative cuisine. The food was amazing and plentiful--do not eat beforehand because the "taste" portions are generously sized and taste amazing. You will want to eat it all!... More
