What a fabulous afternoon! Our guide, Guilds Hollowell, was so welcoming and informative. We ventured to four different restaurants that were all within a few blocks of each other. Each site provided 3-4 items. If you have ever eaten tapas - that's the size of the servings. We started the tour at HOM and sampled the moistest turkey sandwich ever!... More

Learning about a city's history while enjoying the local food and drink was great fun. in spite of the fact that the weather was awful the day of our tour, the guide, Charly, provided us with a good deal of history and some great food. This tour stopped at four different establishments and we were served two or three dishes... More

The tour was excellent. The Guide, Hoon Calhoun, was outstanding. A great knowledge of the Charleston culinary scene. He was a delight and has a great understanding of historical Charelston. We learned a great deal about historical Charleston and about the wonderful culinary scene. Highly recommend him and the tour.

We had a late breakfast and no lunch so we were able to truly enjoy this wonderful tour in the late afternoon. We visited 4 restaurants and had a wonderful mix of low country foods from the Southend Brewery and Smokehouse (best She Crab soup ever), Amen Street, Burwell’s, and Kaminsky’s (best key lime pie ever). The quantity and variety... More

Today we did the Historic Downtown tour and it was fantastic. Charley was our knowledgeable and entertaining guide whose energy and enthusiasm were contagious. We went to 4 places - starting with South End Brewery and Smoke House. Had a sample of their home-brewed beer, she-crab soup (excellent), fried green tomato with pimento cheese and chow chow (OUTSTANDING!!); and finished... More

And what a great way to learn nuances of the city, eat some great food and figure out where you will want to have a complete meal! We had 2-3 appetizer servings at each of the 4 restaurants we visited. All the food was delicious and all the food was very different from each restaurant we were in. Just some... More

I visited Charleston recently and opted to sign up for a culinary tour after dining in some of the best restaurants of my life. I booked online and made the mistake of booking for a future date and showed up the following morning, with a friend, a week ahead of schedule. My bad! "Hoon" Calhoun was our tour guide and... More

Had a hard time deciding which tour to do. Ultimately, we chose the Chef's Kitchen Tour. The tour far exceeded our expectations. Would give it more than 5 stars. Hoon Calhoun was exceptional. His knowledge made the tour that much more interesting and informative. The food was first rate. Will definitely do another tour when we return to Charleston.

This was one of the neatest things I have ever done. The food at each of the restaurants (HoM, R Kitchen, Luna, Sugar) was delicious and very different. Our guide, Giles, was friendly, knowledgeable, told great stories, and provided a wealth of information about Charleston, both past and present. The price was VERY reasonable for the amount and variety of... More
