We did the Upper King Street Tour. Our guide was a Charleston native and seemed to know everyone! This was more of a history lesson than a food tour, but the stories were wonderful and the food we did have were outstanding. Only actually visited three restaurants and a bakery. Still, we were full by the end of the tour... More

You don't have to be a foodie to enjoy this tour, especially if your guide is "Hoon" Calhoun. His delightful anecdotes and deep appreciation for all things Charleston combine the culinary arts with the history of the city, leaving you with a wealth of knowledge and samplings of delicious food while hearing from local restauranteurs. Only thing that I would... More

We've just returned home from another wonderful visit to Charleston. One of the highlights was the Upper King Street Culinary Tour. We request Hoon Calhoon as our guide and were again delighted to have him host our group. Hoon is an event by himself with wonderful stories of old Charlestown and a knowledgeable history of food and how it came... More

I highly recommend that new and returning visitors sign up for the Charleston culinary tours. Glen provides a fabulous introduction to the food scene in Charleston and introduces you to local and innovative cuisine. The food was amazing and plentiful--do not eat beforehand because the "taste" portions are generously sized and taste amazing. You will want to eat it all!... More

I've been on a couple culinary yours in various cities and would rank this average to above average. It's definitely worth doing and a great way to get some insights on food in a town with many food options. We ate at HOM, 39, The Meeting Room, and Macaroons. Each stop had large portions. I would have preferred to have... More

Tour starts slow and chatty. Midway I was excited about the culinary experience of Charleston after visiting The Macintosh and Prohibition. The off topic commentary detracts from the tour and reveals in actuality this tour only has about 90 mins of substance and should be shortened to concentrate on the chefs.

This is our second Chefs Kitchen tour and enjoyed it as much as the first one. Hoon Calhoun is an amazing guide as he blends his "local" knowledge including Charleston history with visits to some of the city's best food spots. Got to speak with 2 chefs who were very passionate about their jobs and gave a very informative talk... More

The tour was interesting. Unfortunately we're not big fans of Southern food. The food were great...huge portions..and very filling since most of them are the good old southern greasy food. Only 1 restaurant we love and couldn't remember the name. Good value overall...great way to get to know the restaurants in the area.

Our tour was led by Glenn who did an excellent job mixing food and restaurant information with local history. We've enjoyed walking tours and carriage tours while in Charleston, but this culinary tour offered a nice twist. There are soooo many restaurants in Charleston, from which to choose and this helps narrow and direct your choices. Plus, how else can... More

My first time in Charleston and what a fun way to learn about the food scene in a new city along with some history! Glen shared his wealth of knowledge about the restaurants and each place we went to was great and the food was even better. Loved the interaction with the chefs! I only wish I had more time... More
