Explore Charleston’s piratical past on a tour that begins in one of Charleston’s oldest buildings, the National Historic Landmark Powder Magazine Museum. In authentic costume & accompanied by Capt. Bob, the parrot, Eric Lavender shares stories of the pirates who plundered, partied, and perished in Charles Towne. Eric brings Charleston's Golden Age of Piracy to life with stories of Blackbeard's siege of the city, the capture and execution of Stede Bonnet and other pirates, the romance between Calico Jack and Anne Bonny, and much more! Along the way, learn about the city’s most historical buildings and events. We also offer evening Ghost/Pirate tours and the Charles Towne Pub Stroll. « less

Charleston is loaded with pirate history. This walking tour provided an up close and personal encounter with the local history of the early colonies. Our guide, Eric, dressed in pirate garb and holding a real macaw, was quite a storyteller and made the history of the area come to life.

We had an awesome time on this tour. Charleston has a lot more pirate history than we realized. Easy to forget that there's a lot more to this city than the Civil War, but we got to learn about the colonial days on this tour. I don't want to give away anything, but 2 very famous pirates were from the... More

Another guest at our hotel told us about this tour, and we're so glad he did! My husband is a die-history buff, and he's hard to please, but even he was absolutely blown away. The guide really knows his history. Delivery was superb, and he was able to answer all of my husband's esoteric questions with ease. Highly recommend this... More

We had the best time on this tour! One of the few things we did that didn't earn eye rolls from our 2 teens. The guide, Eric, is an enormously talented storyteller who really makes history fun.

We have a teenage daughter, so we understand the dreaded eye roll! Glad you and the kids had fun. Thank you for taking the time to post a review. Sabrina More

We had a great time doing the Pirate Tour of Charleston, NC. Eric is great and has a full knowledge of all the pirates stories that took place between 1710 and 1740. A must do if you enjoy to go back in history and understand why Charleston is a great place to visit

We're so glad that you enjoyed the tour! Eric got a big kick out of your Golden Retriever, Moe. He's such a sweet, well-behaved dog. Thanks you for taking the time to post the review and for posting the great picture! Sabrina More

We enjoyed the walk and the guide was knowledgeable (although a little unusual). The talk wasn't always connected to the locations that we were walking and was a little awkward at times. A decent experience, but not the hype of a very top attraction in Charleston.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We're sorry that you didn't understand the connections between the locations and Charleston's pirate history. Of course, the walk through Waterfront Park on the harbor has an obvious connection, as both Blackbeard and Charles Vane blockaded the harbor in 1718. The Pink House and the Tavern also have obvious connections,... More

We had Eric as our tour guide today and he did an awesome job! He told tales of pirate plunder as though he had been there to witness it him self. He was full of facts and information and kept us entertained the whole tour!

We had a great time learning the history of Charleston and its pirates. Eric clearly has a passion for the topic and was both knowledgeable and entertaining. Bob chirped in his opinion regularly. We were amazed by how much we learned in just two hours.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. Glad that you and the family enjoyed the tour! Eric could talk all day about pirates, but we figure 2 hours of history about all most people can handle! Thanks, again! Sabrina More
