Explore Charleston’s piratical past on a tour that begins in one of Charleston’s oldest buildings, the National Historic Landmark Powder Magazine Museum. In authentic costume & accompanied by Capt. Bob, the parrot, Eric Lavender shares stories of the pirates who plundered, partied, and perished in Charles Towne. Eric brings Charleston's Golden Age of Piracy to life with stories of Blackbeard's siege of the city, the capture and execution of Stede Bonnet and other pirates, the romance between Calico Jack and Anne Bonny, and much more! Along the way, learn about the city’s most historical buildings and events. We also offer a discounted combo ticket that includes the walking tour and the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon. « less

We did a private vow renewal with Charleston Pirate Tours. Eric was excellent. Very interesting and knowledgable. Sabrina did a great job in planning the ceremony and details on short notice. Eric, Sabrina, and Captain Bob truly exceeded our expectations. Thank you. More

I live here in Charleston and now I know a lot more about the City in which I live. The tour guide was awesome and very knowledgable. The way he told the history was in a story format that was very engaging, like watching the History Channel or Discovery Channel. It is definitely worth the time and money. I would... More

Thanks so much for the review and recommendation! We love having locals on the tour and showing them an important part of Charleston's history that doesn't get much attention. Sabrina Lavender More

We decided to do this tour because every other tour we wanted to do was booked but it ended up being much better than I thought it would be. The guide told each story with so much passion and enthusiasm you couldn't help but be caught up in what he was saying. We spent alot of time in the French... More

My sister and I had the best time on our tour last Saturday night. The weather was very chilly and she was afraid that she would be too cold and almost cancelled on me. I'm glad she did not, because not only did the walking keep us warm, but she would have missed out on what was definitely one of... More

Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm glad that you were able to talk your sister into taking the tour despite the cold weather. The next time you're in Charleston, give us a call, and we'll arrange a time that you could meet with Eric and get some photos. Again, thank you... Sabrina Lavender More

We had a private tour with Pirate Eric . That was awesome, because of the weather we did not get to have the bird go with - not awesome, but did not ruin the trip in the least. If you have boys, and they love pirates DO THIS! My boys are still talking about this. Gifts at shop where you... More

We're so glad that you and your boys enjoyed the tour! Thank you for pointing out that we do not conclude at the Powder Magazine, where we begin. We wrap up the tour next to the Old Exchange Building, which is a couple of blocks away. Thanks, also, for understanding about Captain Bob not being able to brave the cold.... More

The people at Charleston Pirates Tour were great to work with. We brought around 50 students down after Christmas and they had a great time. Our pirate guide was great and knowledgeable. I would recommend to anyone who is down there to go. More

I signed up for my 8-year old son who is fascinated of pirates. I would never have chosen the pirate tour for myself. But the tour was informative and interesting. Eric has a lot of stories to tell. The places we visited were wonderful. But be mindful that the tour might not interest all young children. Of the 5 kids... More

This was a great tour. Two hours was a little long with little ones. But our group of age 4-75 all enjoyed it! More

We really enjoyed our tour with Eric ('Bob' had to have his annual physical and was not with us), but we, with another couple, had a delightful day learning many facts and anecdotes about pirate era in and around early Charleston. We have been on other local tours, which we enjoyed, but this tour provided an easy stroll through the... More

Charleston is thick with history, but it is sometime difficult to keep the kids entertained. We chose this tour to allow our 6 and 7 year old duaghters to leave Charleston with historical stories they could tell their friends. Pirate Eric's tour fit the bill. They were engaged for (almost) the full two hours and especially liked the story of... More
