For about $20 per person, maybe $25, this is a good tour to take real early during your visit to Charleston because it'll cover most of the Historic District and introduce you to the major sites, which you can later go back and visit in detail. The carriage drivers are cordial and professional. They must pass a detailed test on... More

Phil was our driver and as a Charleston native was a wealth of historical information. Wonderful job, Phil! Yamassee was our handsome horse who took us through the beautiful streets of downtown Charleston. We were amazed by the relationship that Phil and Yamassee seemed to have........great experience to watch them work!

There are hawkers on the streets across from the market selling carriage tours. Although they don't undersell each other, there can be significant differences in the wait between tours (15-20 mn for some, as much as 30-40 for others), comfort in boarding (boarding dock as opposed to a step ladder on the sidewalk). You can't pick your guide so that's... More

Our guide Daniel was terrific. As he put it, his tour may not be politically correct but it is historically correct. Daniel did a good job of representing different points of view as he discussed Charleston's history. He was also really entertaining and did a great job fielding questions. We saw a good cross section of downtown Charleston, from the... More

Our tour took us down to the battery and around Rainbow Row. We had a variety of ages on our carriage ride and our tour guide had interesting facts for all of us. I wish I could remember our guides name (I think it was Eric?, could be totally off) but he was knowledgeable and also so kind to Zorro,... More

The only complaint was the thunderstorm that was during our ride. This was a package deal with the Doubletree Hotel and I suggest this company as the driver was very knowledgeable of Charleston's History(he was a high school history teacher) and he was also very caring to the house. He eased and calmed the horse through the storm and he... More

If you want to learn about Charleston and its history go with Carolina Polo and ask for John. You will not be disappointed with the tour or history lesson. I have done a lot of tour and John Polk's are the best. True southern charm and his love for the South and Charleston does show in his tours. I rate... More

Charlston has a rich History from early colonial days , the Revolutionary War against Brittan and the Civil war. A great way to see the old City.
