Description: Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative...
Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would truly know.

Michael is a great tour guide and extremely knowledgeable of the area. He keeps the kids interested by encouraging them to ask questions and he asks them questions as well as showing them any wildlife (bugs). Michael also remembers the names of the 15+ participants and includes info relevant to where the participants traveled from. We learned so much information... More

Just got back from this tour. It was in the 90's today and very humid. I was worried about enjoying a walking tour in this heat. Well, Michael kept us going at a steady pace and the weather didn't stop us from having an enjoyable morning of sightseeing. Take this tour early in your trip. It helps you learn the... More

Very interesting tour, Michael was very entertaining and he is very knowledgeable . We saw many interesting places and things. A lot of walking in two hours . You see houses, churches, the harbor, a lot of history! Pair this with Fort Sumter and it is a heck of a day. Well worth the $20.

Michael is a great tour guide and extremely knowledgeable. He makes the tour fun with a lot of personal stories about growing up in Charleston. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it and really felt like we came away having learned a lot. I highly recommend this tour.

Michael gave a great tour. Size was limited to 20, and he personalized the tour, addressing participants by name and taking the time to engage the kids in the group. We spent two hours exploring the city's streets, alleys, courtyards and parks, learning about Charleston history, culture, architecture, native and exotic flora and various other topics. He painted a vivid... More

My husband and I recently visited the Charleston area and looked for a top rated tour of the city. We read about the Charleston Footprints Walking Tours and particularly about Michael, one of the tour guides. He was everything we read about and more. A truly wonderful guide who clearly loves his city. He was very knowledgeable and answered the... More

Michael’s was the best walking tour I have ever done in the U.S. I noticed things I would not have noticed otherwise, and the tour left me with a respect and affection for the old city that surprised me. Michael’s knowledge of his home town is deep and wide, and the tour is chock full of history both recent and... More

We weren't quite sure what to expect out of this tour but throughly enjoyed it. Michael really knows what he is talking about and i really liked his personal stories about where he grew up. Its pretty cool to have someone give you a tour who was born and raised in the city vs random tour guides who are scripted.... More

We enjoyed this tour very much. Michael was entertaining and informative. And because I have a slight hearing problem, I appreciated that he spoke carefully and loud enough that I had no trouble hearing anything he said. We would highly recommend this tour as a way of seeing the city.

Thank you for taking the time to add a review. I am glad you mentioned about the hearing issue that makes some people reluctant to take group tours. Fortunately I have a voice that projects very well from growing up in a family of 9, and if I'm aware that someone has a hearing problem, I can make sure that... More
