Owner description: Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would truly know.

We really liked this tour. Michael is a native Charlestonian and is extremely knowledgable about the local history and American history in general. I really recomment this tour of Charleston fairly early in your stay. He takes you to many out of the way places you might not get to on your own. After his tour you can start exploring... More

Charleston is fortunate to have Michael Trouche as one of its native sons. If you have time only for one tour, take this one. Michael is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Charleston and tells it with humor and warmth. War, hurricanes, fire, the slave market and earthquakes have shaped this city to its current culture and Michael offered all... More

I want to thank the reviewer for her kind review and for being willing to switch from morning to afternoon tours to help accommodate an adjustment in the schedule on a rainy day. We went inside City Hall chambers on this day because St. Michael's was closed and I wanted to show off an interior at the famous Four Corners... More

Michael Trouche is a seventh generation native and his knowledge and love for the area is not just incredible, but deeply incredible. Though the temperatures were cold today (in the mid 30's), he made sure to find a few inside stops to keep us warm. My wife originally was not very happy that I had arranged for a walking tour... We joined the tour on our first morning in charleston and it was a great way to get to know the city. Michaels tour was full of interesting information and was a lot more enjoyable than if we had just walked around ourselves. We'd recommend to anyone visiting charleston!
