Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. My sister, my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this overview of historic Charleston. Michael infused his personal memories and experiences growing up and living in Charleston into the historical narrative that he weaved as we explored his 'holy city'. His tour is fast paced and intentional which delivered full value for our fee.....and doing it early in our trip increased... More

My wife and I took Michael's 2 hour on a steamy Sat in the summer of 2014. In short, Michael is a *great* guide -- lots of details and personal anecdotes. We've been coming to Charleston for many years and now have a much deeper appreciation for the history & the neighborhoods of this bewitching city. When taking this on... More

My husband and I spent a weekend in Charleston and highly recommend a tour with Michael Trouche of Footprints Tour. He taught us a great deal about Charleston and the history of the city. I would suggest booking a tour for a weekday as it is easier to get inside of the churches and the sidewalks are less crowded.

Michael is an excellent tour guide! Three generations of our family all enjoyed learning about Charleston today on this exciting walking tour. Michael combines his extensive knowledge of Charleston history with his own personal stories of growing up in Charleston which make this tour particularly interesting and fun. You will not be disappointed. This tour is much better and more... More

Thank you for the kind review Heather, and it was my great pleasure to have your family on the tour. The most enjoyable aspect of giving tours is having the company of pleasant, enthusiastic people who can be a great joy to accompany, and I think everyone one the tour left with a smile thanks to your little son Ben,... What an enjoyable tour with Michael! He knows the city very well and walking is the best way to see the nooks and crannies of Charleston! I loved walking down the back alleys and learning about the city.

Some family members and I were able to spend a day in Charleston while vacationing in Hilton Head. We were thrilled with Michael's tour and felt that we got a great feel of the city in a short amount of time. Very knowledgable and entertaining. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone who would like a good overview of... More

Michael Trouche knew his stuff! A 7th generation native Charlestonian certainly gave him the knowledge, but his stories, history, discussions of the people, architectural insights and behind the scenes factoids made this very enjoyable and the time flew by. He always seemed to find the shade for his talks and he very much involved each member in the group and... More

This tour was recommended by our hotel and it didn't disappoint. Michael Trouche took our group to several locations and explained the history behind buildings, homes and churches. We enjoyed the tour and would recommend it. Just don't forget to bring your hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and water.

Our walking tour with Michael Trouche, a 7th generation Charlestonian, was a wonderful way to start our day in Charleston. His knowledge of the city, it's architecture, and people was a very interesting way to spend 2 hours. Time went by fast listening to Michael and we could have walked another 2 hours with no problem. I highly recommend this... More
