Owner description: Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would truly know.

Michael is a superb tour guide. He has a wealth of knowledge about Charleston and the historical district which he shares in an affable manner. Definitely a way to gain an appreciation of the city while getting in a modest walk.

This tour was absolutely great! I was in Charleston for business and had little free time but wanted to get out and learn about Charleston- this was the great way to learn about Charleston and see it. Michael's tour was well put together and full of interesting facts. He touches on a lot of history but at the same time... More

Michael is a 7th generation Charlestonian and he knows his history! This is a two hour walking tour of Charleston. We heard stories that aren't in your history books! Extremely informative and fun! A great storyteller who made precious memories for us! It was because of Michael that we fell in love with Charleston! ($20 each)

We thoroughly enjoyed the 2 plus hours we spent walking around historic Charleston, SC, with Michael Trouche and seeing the city through his eyes. The two hours flew by despite persistent rain and cold. We left the tour with a greater understanding of not only Charleston, but the South as well. On return visits to Charleston, we plan to walk... A lifelong Charleston resident (who works for a B&B on the Battery) recommended Michael as the best tour guide in the city. I'm glad I listened and took this tour. With his great storytelling skills and vast knowledge of Charleston, Michael kept my interest the entire two hours. The value was great for the modest $20 price. When we have... More

We are so happy to recommend Michael Trouche and his tour. His personal connections with the city bring endless stories and anecdotes that you'll remember long after the tour is over. I had a difficult time catching everything as we walked as I wanted to stop and take photo's of the beautiful doors and window boxes we passed. He does... More

Michael's love of his hometown shines through at every informative stop. My friend and I learned so much about Charleston's rich historical/architectural past over the course of our two-hour tour. There wasn't a question Michael couldn't answer and he was gracious, funny, and considerate. What a superb way to start a visit to this charming city! There are many walking... More

My wife and I took Michael's marvelous walking tour ($20 per [+tip]; a real bargain for what you learn) while on vacation recently. It was excellent, pointing out numerous historical houses etc. (including where Michael grew up, where he attended school, etc.). We had a great time. There are numerous stops and information galore; wear comfortable shoes for walking during... More

Michael is an extremely knowledgeable and very entertaining tour guide. His personal experiences -- he is a seventh generation Charlestonian -- add interesting and often humorous details to a delightful tour of the city's architecturally significant and charming neighborhoods. It is difficult to believe that you could duplicate the experience with a self-guided tour of the South of Broad area.
