Parking in Charleston can be a real nightmare. I got a good idea here on TripAdvisor. When you're driving in, simply continue on over the Ravenel Bridge and proceed to the Marina. You can park there for free and take the Water Taxi across the harbor where there are very convenient stops.

Every trip to Charleston must include a ride on the water taxi. We always get a day pass that way we can ride around on the harbor. It has multiple stops so you can get off and walk around, then get back on. Several times we have been able to see dolphins!

The water taxi is the best way to get from Mount Pleasant to Charleston. No worrying about where to park in town. The boat lands near trolley stops. $10 for an all-day pass. The boat makes 4 stops total, 2 on each side of the river. The captain and mate were happy to answer questions from riders.

This is not an actual sightseeing tour but is definitely worth a ride! The captain was knowledgeable and answered all questions from guests as they asked about different sights. We did get to see a dolphin as we rode around. Got to get really up close to USS Yorktown and submarine.

We used the water taxi to Mount Pleasant. Lovely view of Charleston from the water. Always on time and friendly operators.

We use the water taxi if we want to spend a night out in Charleston. You can park your car for free at Patriots Point and for $6 you go to downtown Charleston. Check their running hours because in the winter they only work on the weekend.

We stayed in Mt. Pleasant which is across the harbor from Charleston Proper. The water Taxi is a great way to get to downtown and also to avoid the parking problem downtown... A quick 15 minute ride over.... Schedule is convenient to help you spend your day exploring and return in the evening.

We had thought the water taxi wasn't running for the winter, but we spotted it while we were at Waterfront Park and were delighted to hop aboard for a ride to the aquarium and, later, Patriot's Point. We saw a number of dolphins during our ride--a real highlight. At $10 per person to ride all day, it's quite a deal... More

We were planning our trip and found out that the water taxi does not run from November 18th through December 26th. We were planning on walking the bridge and catching a ride back. We are very disappointed and surprised that they are closed since they are the only water taxi. They are open on Saturdays during this time though.
