Don't let the 4 star review fool you. If you are in Charleston and you want Fish and Chips and great beer this is the ONLY place to go. Service can be iffy. Cole slaw is runny. But there is only ONE place Kari and I EVER order the same thing and that's Fish and Chips at The Griffin. Enough... More

We are currently in Charleston and went to the Griffin for a beer and lunch. The beer was average at best and the food was greasy and cheap! The decor is completely outdated. Covered in one dollar bills that people write various things on ranging from funny to disgusting. Save your money and walk a few more blocks.

After our walking tour with Brian of Charleston Sole, we asked him for a good spot for lunch and he said we should try The Griffin...that's where he eats. You will know the place because there are thousands of $1 bills hanging on the walls! The best fish & chips in town as well as tremendous burgers. We had fun... More

Dont bother with this one! there are plenty of better options close buy. The boys wanted a beer & as it was past our lunch time we took pot luck! An English pub?? Really?? No, from the outside it looked ok & I thought I would try the Soft Shel Crab sandwich to be fair it was quite good. The... More

I stopped in here with some friends and enjoyed the fish and chips with some local brews. The fish and chips were so good we went back a second time. We drew on dollar bills and added them to the wall of currency art. Can't wait to go back in the future and see if they're still up. Very neat... More

We were brought to this place when we took a pub tour in Charleston. It has a English pub with a cool atmosphere with bills covering the wall as you can see in my picture. I heard they take the bills down each year and donate them, but i'm not sure if that is true.

Went to Griffin because we heard the fish and chips was excellent, well, to our standards it wasn't. It was VERY fried. Not at all what we are used to in the East. The atmosphere was 5 TV's of football and guys yelling at the game. If this is your thing, great, you've found a new place, if not, don't... More

Found the Griffin walking up a side street among a row of Inns and other small stores. Great selection of Micro brews and the game on several TV's throughout the bar area.. Had some great beers and good conversation with locals and travelers while sitting at the bar. Although we did not order food everyone that did seemed to be... More

Just looking at this place from the doorway, you would never guess the best fish and chips anywhere lives here! We went for lunch during the week and the cod fish and chips...the best! We returned on a Friday evening and it was packed, only had one waitstaff who was totally overwhelmed, but if you didn't mind waiting and having... More

This is nestled in with some upscale inns and the fountain/boardwalk/ocean nearby. Dollar bills line the walls and ceilings of this laid back little pub. Bartenders are friendly and so are the patrons. I never miss stopping by when I'm there on vacation. Check it out!
