Al personalized our tour of historic Charleston. He had so much information to share, it truly made us want to take notes and follow up on additional research, mentioning authors, architects, and famous personalities in Charleston. The two hours went by so quickly, it was sad we couldn't have him spend the rest of the day with us! The tour made... More

Our tour started off a little questionable. We were told to meet at a particular spot and as time went by, we began to get an odd feeling we were in the wrong spot or something else was wrong. My husband finally called the number to reach Al and he had not been made aware of our tour by the... More

Couldn't ask for more. Much better than the ghost and graveyards tour we took the following night. AL was very knowledgeable and had an answer to almost every question we asked.

Al came recommended by our hotel and he was a delight. We learned so much in just 2 short hours and he customized his information to our interests.

we had a private tour with Al .ray and so pleased we did, he knew so much history and took us all around and filled our minds with days past. It was informative, fun and beautiful to see the city with our own personal guide instead of a large group. Al would be the one I'd have again when we... More

We have been to Charleston many times and either walked the historic district on our own or taken the Carriage tour, but this Tour was so much more. Walking the old Walled City with a very knowledgeable guide was well worth the money! I highly recommend this tour. Tour was 1.25 miles and 2 hours long. I feel like I... More

We were really pleased with our tour of Charleston with Al. I called Al at the suggestion of another tour company and he was recommended as being very knowledgable about the city and able to give a tour tailored to our interests. We had two college students in our group and a high school student with some very specific interests.... More

Thank You for your wonderful endorsement! I especially thank you for noting the referral from another company. I have been touring Charleston for over thirty years and have made the study of American History my avocation for more years than that. I an acknowledged as the "tour guides tour guide" by many in the community. Even though I have done... More

Found this tour on Groupon and decided a 2 hour walking tour was good way for my family to learn about some Charleston history of the downtown area. We decided on the shorter tour with our teenage sons and skipped the slightly longer tour with gardens. Al was born and raised in Charleston and slightly "customized" the tour for us.... More

What an enjoyable, educational, and entertaining tour! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed touring Charleston with Al. We got lucky and had Al to ourselves. We requested to learn about Charleston's colonial period (as we had already taken another tour focusing on the Civil War), and Al accommodated our request. He truly is very knowledgable about Charleston. We can't say... More

Loved walking through Charleston with Al Ray, who shared his knowledge and revealed the heart and character of the City of Charleston. Al knows so much about the city, he can almost customize the focus of each tour based on the interests of those in attendance. Highly recommend this walking tour for anyone visiting the city, can't wait to come... More
