This is a "park" in the middle of town, right by the busy shopping and eating district. As Upper King Street progresses, it will become more popular for a nice sit-down during your walking travels. There are many events held down there, including the SEWE, Food and Wine Festival, Fashion Show, etc.. Plenty of places to eat and drink within... More

We visited Marion Square numerous times during a Dec visit to Charleston. We visited for the Christmas Decorations, to cross from Meeting St to the wonderful shops and restaurants on King, and we took in some of the events there on New Year`s Eve. We found the park to be safe, inviting and enjoyable. We saw some folks sleeping in... More

Lots to do for the kids, lots of vendors with snack food, a great cover band playing everything very well- Soul Fish, and a huge Christmas Tree! Jumpcastles, face-painting, a neat petting zoo, arts and crafts to keep the little ones busy. Starbucks and a ton of great restaurants on King Street, etc. to grab food.

We recently walked through Marion Square during a weekend visit to Charleston. There was a nice market with local crafts and food. The food we tried was very good but stay away from deep fried peanuts....we should have known better.

Walking through the city and this small Park. Very interesting to read the historical markers. Grab a coffee, sit down and people watch. Totally safe.

This is a beautiful square in the heart of a beautiful city. On Saturdays there is a very nice market. Right now, the park is decorated with a big Christmas tree in the middle (which you can walk through). There are also several little trees that have been decorated by the children of local elementary schools. Very cute and imaginative.... More

Marion Square is located at the site of the old Citadel, downtown, in an important part of the penisula. This location is historically significant, as it represented the outer walls of defense during the seige of Charleston, several important meetings of the citizenry throughout several major crises, and was the parade ground for the military in a bygone age. Marion... More

An absolute great experience. I thank all the other contributors who suggested going on Saturdays. Amazing local produce and neat vendors. We purchased a neat photo collage from a local photographer. They had an amazing artist in the park who sang and played a keyboard. Had an amazing rendition of an Elton John Classic. The location is great the atmosphere... More

Saturdays it's full of families, tourists, strollers. Lots of music and prepared food as well as local produce and crafts. Look for the okra pickles--they're amazing!
