Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 – 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner’s 65-acre plantation on John’s Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks. Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST).~Look for the Red Sash~ Our symbol of a quality horse-drawn carriage tour of Charleston, South Carolina. « less

Benji was our tour guide and he was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable, funny, authentic and charming. He kept my wife and I very entertained the entire hour tour with his wit and tons of interesting information about the city. It was a hot summer day, and sitting in the shaded carriage really beat walking in the sun. We would... More

We had a great time with a great tour guide. Bill the horse was wonderful too. The tour is about an hour long and you cannot pick the location of your tour the location is drawn like mega millions drawing due to the number of carriages and people living in the area. However, the guide is amazing and his knowledge... More

We had family come in town for a visit. Our 5 year old niece wanted to go on a carriage ride. She loved the horse and waving to tourists as we went by. For the adults, the ride was great, our guide very knowledgeable and the weather was perfect. Think we even saw a "Pawn Star" on a private tour.... More

We enjoyed our carriage ride through zone 3. It's a bit crowded with four to a seat, but people were friendly and made the best of it. The tour operator was very knowledgeable and entertaining too. I think this is a "must do" while in Charleston. After, you can enjoy the City Market which is just steps away.

We love this company and use their tours when we come to Charleston. Joshua and Luke did a great job. Joshua was very informative and we learned a lot of new facts about Charleston. How the horses are treated was wonderful too.
