Description: There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage...
There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage point of an Old South Carriage. Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 - 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner's 65-acre plantation on John's Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks. Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST). ~Look for the Red Sash~ Our symbol of a quality horse-drawn carriage tour of Charleston, South Carolina.

Old South Carriage Company

There are other carriage companies that offer tours of downtown Charleston however the Old South Carriage Company is by far the most professional. Ask for Tommy and Shawn.

We had a wonderful time. I would recommend Old South Carriage Company to anyone visiting the area. Our tour guide, Janice, was phenomenal. She was very knowledgable and also entertaining. We will definitely do this again when we return to Charleston.

Enjoyed the tour and learned some interesting things about the city. Did realize that there are several different routes for the tour. Because the city limits how many carriages can be out at one time we had to take the route that the last carriage returned from. When back in Charleston, will definitely take another tour to see another route.

This was an amazing tour and our tour guide Josh really knew his stuff. He was very polite and he had many jokes about different sites and there were parts of the city that you may not have been able to see that you can see on this tour.

A fun part of any Charleston visit! Our horse, Bob, was great, and our guide was very informative. Worth the wait.

Everyone should take a carriage ride when visiting Charleston. The tour guides knowledge of Charleston was shared in an informative yet fun way. It is a great way to spend an hour, see beautiful parts of the city and learn about the history. HIGHLY recommend!!!

Great trip round Charleston with knowledgable guides. We did route one which took us all through rainbow street around the coastline and down market street. Loved it and we took the guides recommendation to go through the market afterwards we were spoilt for choice on lovely things to buy!!

We took the combo of Fort Sumpter & the carriage tour. It was wonderful! The staff was very nice and the guide was wonderful. Very informative; I learned a lot about Charleston and the history. I noticed that they make sure that the horses are watered frequently/taken care of, and that made me feel good. I would highly recommend!!

Great! Worth $25.00. Insight into a lot of Charleston that may not be known otherwise. It really shows you the most beautiful parts of the town.

My husband, 12 year old daughter and I took a private tour with Josh and Amos. Josh did an EXCELLENT job: a wealth of information. At the end of our 3 day stay in Charleston, I asked my husband and daughter what their favorite activity was and they both said, "carriage ride with Josh." Highly recommend!
