Description: There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage...
There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage point of an Old South Carriage. Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 - 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner's 65-acre plantation on John's Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks. Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST). ~Look for the Red Sash~ Our symbol of a quality horse-drawn carriage tour of Charleston, South Carolina.

This was a very relaxing way to tour Charleston and learn about its history. We did this our first afternoon in town and then had a better idea of the layout of the downtown area as well as better focus on which areas we wanted to go back to. Our guide was very charismatic and knowledgable. I would definitely go... More

This is the second tour I have taken this year, and very enjoyable. If I had a complaint it was too crowded in our row. 4 adults in the front was too much.

I usually use Palmetto Carriage company when my friends and family are in town but the wait was over and hour there so I decided to take my friends on Old South. Big Mistake!! Maybe I am just spoiled but the tour guide was not as knowledgeable as I was accustomed to getting with Palmetto. I am also accustomed to... More

Loved our carriage tour with Shawn & Jack the horse! Shawn was so witty & informative - I'm sure we got the best guide! Learned things about Charleston I never knew, even though this was not our first visit. We had an elderly, hard of hearing Navy veteran on board, whom we learned was one of few survivors of a tragic... Our carriage tour of historic Charleston was great! We had a "talkative" horse, Freddy, and a very knowledgable guide who showed us plenty of interesting nooks and crannies besides the beautiful homes. Definitely worth your time!

It was relaxing and interesting. We are a couple, both 23 years old. Our guide, Joshua, and horse, Freddy, gave a very nice view of the city and we learned a lot of facts that we would have never thought about the town. Joshua knew his history and even had personal experiences that added to the tour. He even added... More

The Old South Carriage Co really knows how to inform rushed tourists to the history of Charleston! We also enjoyed learning about the benefits of being a "worker at the front of the carriage"! Joe and Earl are excellent guides. (Joe was definitely easy on the eyes for us ladies!) The stories and facts were fun and enlightening. Money well... More

This was a great tour. Joshua D. was the tour guide and Gumbo was the horse. He was funny, informative and answered all of the passenger's questions. I highly recommend this tour.
