Description: There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage...
There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage point of an Old South Carriage. Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 - 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner's 65-acre plantation on John's Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks. Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST). ~Look for the Red Sash~ Our symbol of a quality horse-drawn carriage tour of Charleston, South Carolina.

We paid ahead for our tour through Historic Charleston. We enjoyed the carriage & loved learning about all the history Charleston had to offer. We were really impressed at how well our tour guide, Janice, knew her history & how much knowledge she had to offer about her town. Our horse, Freddie, was adorable & well taken care of. I... More

Josh and Prince made a great team. Josh was knowledgeable and funny, and Prince such a handsome chap. We got to see most of the key sites and felt this was a wonderfully way of seeing them in our very short stay here.

Awesome Joshua D was our tour guide and was so professional and informative! We book with a Ft.Sumter tour and was able to save money and see more! My father is handicapped and they arranged seating for us upfront with easy access WITHOUT being asked!

Very nice tour of charleston, Carol was nice and very sweet to Jake who may not be the fastest horse but was sure-footed and had a lot of character-- and who needs to go fast in this heat anyway?! I enjoyed the chance to get a carriage view of the lovely Charleston scenery!

Our tour guide Emilymwas very knowledgeable and personable. While expected not all guides are. I appreciated her care of the carriage horse, Jake. What really impressed me was how they cared for their horses. Providing them with whether and water. Not continuallymusing them but trading horses out. If you want a company who cares not only for their customers but... More

We went on a private slavery to freedom tour. Bud and Matt are an excellent combo. Matt was very knowledgeable about the history of slavery and did a great job keeping my daughters interested and engaged in the tour. Our family would recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about the history of slavery in South Carolina from the... More

Row-Row and Earl were excellent guides. We recommend them highly. We saw great architecture with the historical story behind it. Good idea to do this in the morning or evening to miss the summer heat. Great way to see the city!

We are world travelers and history lovers (history buff and teacher.) Matthew and Berry (Percheron) were the best team on the streets today and they gave us over an hour of mesmorizing adventure. Like my husband said, he felt like he was in Charleston in the 1500s as Matthew drew his word pictures of the politics and life at that... More
