Description: There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage...
There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage point of an Old South Carriage. Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 - 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner's 65-acre plantation on John's Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks. Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST). ~Look for the Red Sash~ Our symbol of a quality horse-drawn carriage tour of Charleston, South Carolina.

Great experience. Really enjoyed the carriage ride around Charleston. Tour guide was funny & very informative. Only two things that could have been better...1, had to pay to park next door while another nearby carriage company had parking included and 2, didn't get to choose which of the 3 tour routes they offer so really only saw part of Charleston... My husband and I took a carriage tour through residential areas of Charleston and loved it! Josh H was our guide and he was both fun & informative. You could tell he not only knew a lot about the history of the area but that it was also a passion of his. We highly recommend taking one of these tours... More

Let me first say that our guide, Steven, was amazing. Great stories, and easy to listen to, addng just the right amount of humor to keep us well entertained. However, other companies offer free parking, which we didn't know until we got there and saw how everyone else was having an easy time parking. And we arrived very close to... More

Despite the heat, we had a great tour guide, Josh, and horse Jack. Old South seemed to be one of the more professional carriage companies (they're all right next to each other). Josh was very pleasant and knowledgeable, we learned a lot of interesting facts about the city. Because there are so many carriage tours going on at the same... More

We felt that a carriage tour was the best way to show off Charleston to friends from New Zealand. We had chosen Old South previously with good results, so the four of us climbed aboard with Guide Stephen and were then pulled along by Jack who knew every nook and cranny of his route. Through Charleston's lottery carriage system, we... More

We had an amazing tour with the Old South Carriage Company last Friday at noon. Our guide was very informative and funny too. The best part was learning so much about the city....from history to current day information. We will definitely do another tour and recommend it to others. Rhonda from Summerville, SC.

My friends and I took the Old South Carriage ride on Friday and it was very hot but we were so intrigued by our guide, that we didn't even think about the heat! I've done the ride before but my friends had not and everyone enjoyed it! It's well worth doing the carriage ride while you're in Charleston!
