There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage point of an Old South Carriage. Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 - 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner's 65-acre plantation on John's Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks.

Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST).

Carol was our tour guide. She was funny and very knowledgeable. I ordered our tickets on line and it couldn't have been easier. We toured on a Thursday at noon in February, it was a little chilly but Old South Carriage provided blankets to cover up with. I would definitely take another tour with Old South Carriage Company. Everyone we... More

We were charmed by the carriage ride. Josh, our guide, was friendly and knowledgable. His continual patter was full of delightful stories as he pointed out various sites. My only complaint is the city has a lottery system and you do not know which of the 4 districts you will visit until after you board and reach "the corner". That... More

We had a wonderful time on our carriage ride throughout downtown Charleston. The driver, Lance, was so knowledgeable about the area and history. He also had a great sense of humor. I would definitely go back and ride again!

The tour guide Rue Rue was so knowledgeable and very upbeat. You could see she enjoyed her job. Ralph the horse was amazing. We learned lots of information trivia about Charleston as well as seen many of the historical sights. This tour is well worth the price!

The tour was great. Josh really knew his stuff and was a wonderful storyteller. It was clear that he was great with the horse, Freddie, and they worked very well together. It was one of the highlights of our weekend in Charleston. Also, if you book online you save $2 per ticket, definitely worth it.

Our carriage ride was the highlight of our trip. Coincidentally, my wife and I walked around the part of the town in which we ended up taking the tour. It was very nice to have walked through an area then taken a tour of it afterward so we could learn about what we had seen and were seeing. Great time... More

My wife and I really enjoyed the hour spent on this tour. To be sure, it only covers a small portion of the main historic area: the city designates, at the last minute, what "zone" of the city you'll see on your tour in order to keep the horses and carriages spread out. I suppose to see the complete area,... More
