Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 – 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner’s 65-acre plantation on John’s Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks. Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST).~Look for the Red Sash~ Our symbol of a quality horse-drawn carriage tour of Charleston, South Carolina. « less

Very informative tour. Great tour guides too. I would take another tour also. Lastly, we left on time which was awesome and it lasted a hr.

Raley & Ralph were great. We got lucky on the lottery and got to go by Rainbow Row and the Mansions on the Battery. The guide was very informative. We have been to Charleston numerous times, but had never done a tour. We learned things we hadn't heard before. The guide also mention and recommended some of the house tours... More

What a remarkably wonderful time we had! the day could NOT have been any hotter (normally a good excuse for a lack of hospitality), but every second of our interaction with the employees of this extraordinary company exceeded all our expectations. We felt like honored guests the entire time, and Dustin -our delightful guide- was exemplary in sharing a wealth of... Ok tour. Bottom line: the carriage companies are similarly priced and their routes are determined by a city official before the carriage departs the boarding area. The dependency is the personality of the carriage driver and the ability to pass interesting tidbits of info to the group. All carriages carry four in a row with up to 5 rows for... More

While touring the south, we took history tours in Atlanta, Savannah and Charleston. Of the 3, this is the only one that seemed to go out of their way to steer away from any discussion of the slave trade that had prospered in the south. The only time it was mentioned was when our guide pointed out a "cook house"... More

This was really cool. I was planning a tour but glad I did. The tour guide was very nice and knowledgable of Charleston and the area. She was a wealth of knowledge. Saw parts of Charleston I wouldn't have seen nor known about had I not taken this. I will do another soon.

The guide was very knowledgeable. Just know when you get to the start of the tour it is a lottery on which tour you will get. Ours covered some churches, homes and history of Charleston. We did add on the Cruise around the harbor for a little more.

Fantastic. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kept it interesting the whole time. Two of our party couldnt make it. And while they couldnt refund their money, they gave them a raincheck to use any time.

My whole family enjoyed this fun city tour. My 8 year old son loved seeing and petting the horses and my daughter really enjoyed the fun stories our guide, Dustin, shared. He was very funny and knowledgeable. We all learned something. And it was a nice way to see the city that my kids enjoyed way more than just walking... More

The carriage driver was professional and so knowledgeable. He answered any questions thrown at him and was entertaining as well. Our family loved this tour and it was a great way to see Charleston for the first time. I was glad we picked Old South over any other!
