My wife and I recently spent a couple of hours touring the Rose Hill Mansion. Built in the 1850's it has recently been totally restored to it's original beauty. The tour was conducted by the great, great granddaughter of the original owner. After the tour we were treated to a delightful tea party along with an opportunity to wander through... More

Enjoyed learning the history of the mansion. The docents, Cynthia and JoAnne, were very well informed and entertained us with stories of the various owners and especially about the latest owners who have brought the mansion to its currently fine state. The first floor only tour lasted about an hour and then we enjoyed a veritable feast of cold salads... More

This was so informative about the Southern Plantation, as being from the North Cynthia did a great job with information on what life was like back in the 1800. We have lived in the South for 3 years gives us a great perspective of what life was like for the South. Plus after the tour you have a Tea Party... More

A beautiful revival of an old souther mansion. The grounds are magnificent. A must visit when you are in the area

The mansion is in an exclusive residential area with little signage ( it is not allowed). The guard at the gate said to go past the equestrian center and turn left. We ended up in a dead end circle but found the right road at the first street on the left as we started back. The mansion is not typical... More

One enters this beautiful house by the front door and finds oneself in the main hall where visitors are queuing up to register. At the time of registration (entrance fee $25 per person) one can purchase a glass of red or white wine ($5 per glass) which helps the historical to go down that much more smoothly! The first talk... Thoroughly enjoyed this tour and the personal aspect to the same. You feel welcomed and like a guest in this home rather than a tourist. This mansion is not the largest plantation home, but it is a beautiful home. One that survived the civil war and a later fire in the 20th century. Do not expect your typical mansion tour,but... Visited this site in March 2015. After researching old fashioned Southern plantations in the Savannah area, and coming from CT, I was so eager to see my first "Southern plantation." Upon entering the foyer area, we were given a very lengthy (almost 30 minute) history lesson of the mansion, and quickly learned that we would only be allowed to look... More

This is a very unique place to visit. A nice tour was given. We were encouraged to sit on the furniture, yes really! They provided us with a lovely tea at the end of the tour. They encouraged us to go back to any of the rooms we had just viewed to see anything we may have missed or wanted... More

The tour guides make this the best ever. Cynthia, the great grand daughter of the original owner James Kirk (yup they have heard all the Star Trek jokes!) and Joanne a new volunteer who came for a visit and then signed on, are the icing on the cake. Cynthia's personal stories bring the house alive through it's ups and downs.... More
