We were created by Robin, the owner of Rose Hill, and Joanne, the docent. Robin left us at the beginning of the tour and Joanne continued. It was an interesting and informative hour tour of a home that went through the Civil War and a devastating fire. The house was rebuilt to its former antebellum state. Joanne was enthusiastic and... The mansion was beautiful and situated on perfectly groomed grounds. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and friendly who knew the history of the mansion completely. The owner of the mansion, Robin, joined us during the tour to answer any questions we had. A perfect end to the tour was a tea party with delicious salsa, spreads, cookies and crackers.... More

I've toured many great homes and mansions around the country but touring Rose Hill Mansion was like visiting with old friends. Tours run once daily and you need to call and make reservations. My girlfriends and I called an hour before tour time and were able to get on the 2:00 tour. We walked in the front door of the... More

I would not recommend this tour unless you want to learn about the owners. This is a beautiful place with a ton of history that we never found out about in the tour. Maybe 30% of the tour was about the Mansion and it history; the rest was about the current owners. Why was Robin’s wedding dress and wedding photo... More

I politely take exception to Mark C.'s review of his tour experience here at Rose Hill Mansion. Our Tour Guides are a wealth of historical information of the generations of families who lived at Rose Hill Mansion, raised their families, survived the Civil War as well as the Reconstruction Era, the Secession Movement which was based here in Bluffton and... This is an awesome afternnoon experience. The tour, and so many interesting stories about the past. I visited Rose Hill years ago when it was first put on the Historic Register.....then there was a fire......but it has been restored to the splendor Rose Hill enjoyed all those years ago. There is so much history there. You will enjoy the stories,... More

We are civil war buffs and seeing this old mansion brings all kinds of memories back from school studies and books we have read

We stopped by to view an authentic southern plantation. There are many pluses, but still not what we expected. The home is in a gated community, we came by about an hour early for the tour so we could see the grounds, and were turned away. We returned and found the home without difficulty. Entering, it was beautiful, they were... More

My sister and I love to visit historical homes and this was one of the best we have seen. We had read some of the history of the house before we visited so had background. But the docents were so well informed and shared so much history that you wouldn't need to do that to enjoy your visit to the... More

Gorgeous interior and grounds, interesting 1858 southern home with Gothic European original plan, interesting story of construction halted, how Civil War affected family and house, fire in 1987, and marvelous restoration by current owners who occupy the upper floors. 10,000 square feet, but you tour the first floor only, pretty typical of tours in homes that are in use by...
