Beautiful mansion and grounds. Very friendly docents who happen to be current owner and relative of previous owner. The two ladies really knew the history! Wine was for sale at a reasonable $5 per very generous glass. Bathroom was amazing. After tour we were invited to partake in a tea. Provided was yummy homemade sweets as well as chips, dips,... More

Six of us from age twenty to sixty eight thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Both the owner and guide were very welcoming and relaxed. No leaning over roped off doorways on this tour. The first floor is open to all. Sit anywhere, have some wine. Take pictures inside and out. After the tour enjoy soft drinks and baked goods in the... More

As a couple who seeks out historic houses, we were pleasantly surprised by the intimate, welcoming atmosphere at Rose Hill Mansion. This was not a stiff, "don't touch anything" tour! current owner(a historian) was present and the docent is a descendant of the original family. The tour started with offering glasses of wine produced on the plantation(for sale at a... More

On a whim we headed to Bluffton on the last day of vacation because of the amazing reviews on trip advisor. We are so glad we did. The descendant of the home owner gave a fantastic tour. The current owner was available to answer questions, she shared a collection of her husbands with my 15 year old son and it... More

We were there with a group and really enjoyed the tour with a descendent of the original owners. It has an amazing history and is beautifully restored. There was also a great lunch.

This was one of the most interesting mansions we have visited. The home was beautiful and the history was fascinating. The hospitality from our guide was fabulous. We were met at the door with a smile by one of the descendents of the original owners and offered a glass of wine. We could tell that the family was genuinely happy... More

May 2014 we had the pleasure of taking a day trip to visit Rose Hill. They served us wine in the entry area while explaining what we would see on the tour. This is not your usual mansion tour. We were allowed to take all the pictures we wanted. Rose Hill is a private residence and you must make reservations.... More

What a great way so spend 1 1/2 to 2 hours! Bluffton has some interesting spots, and Rose Hill Mansion tops the list. Designed by the same architect as the Church of the Cross in Bluffton, the "Carpenter" Gothic style home is charming and so different from the usual antebellum mansion. As others commented, the woman giving the tour is... More

We visited Rose Hill after reading an article in a local magazine and then checking out the web site. Reservations are required in order to get on the guest list to get past the gate house of this plantation development. The mansion was built around 1859, and the docent giving the tour is a decendant of the founder. The admission... More

I always try to learn more about the places I visit and decided to visit Rose Hill. While not what typically comes to mind when you think of a southern plantation, the mansion was beautiful and the tour guide was great. I appreciated her candid nature and not trying to sugarcoat slavery and what that meant for African Americans working... More
