This is a nice course, good value and some very interesting holes. The course was in good shape when we played it, and definitely keeps your attention with a lot of interesting shots. They were still recovering from aerating the greens, but still had a pretty true roll, just a little slow. I would definitely put this on your list... More

With just a few exceptions, this is as good a course experience as any private country club in the Hilton Head area...as a public golfer, you should put this at the top of your list if visiting. Several holes on the May River, nearly no homes on the course, terrific layout, live oaks everywhere, extremely scenic, and in good condition...greens... More

The course has a lot of water holes, but it was low tide when we started. Even so, the marshland was gorgeous and the topography of the course was varied and interesting. I will definitely go back at high tide to see the changes. The staff was very helpful and told us about the greens being slow; suggested my husband... More

This is a gem of a public play golf course, located just off Hilton Head Island. The layout is interesting and challenging with a variety of "shot maker's holes". The staff in the golf shop and on the course are both friendly and helpful and the grill serves good food. I rate this as a don't miss golf course for... More

We along with another couple were staying at hilton head for 3 rounds of different golf from our Scottish ones. This one met the criteria.the course layout along the marshlands was interesting and we certainly heeded the warnings about not looking for your ball if it went of the fairways.good condition, nice greens.reasonable price.

Our group of two couples has been on Hilton Head Island for a week of beach and golf. Of the three courses we played this week, Old South Golf Links was by far the best overall experience. The course was in better condition and has been maintained better than Golden Bear or Eagle's Pointe. It was the most challenging of... More

We played Old South May 1st, the day after a huge thunderstorm had rolled through. That was perhaps the reason for the slowness of greens, but my own view just from looking at the type of grass they use is that these would be slow most of the time. The course itself was in decent shape despite the cool spring... More

A great golf experience for a number of reasons: resourceful course layout book, convenient range, beautiful vistas, well-maintained tee boxes, fairways and greens, helpful marshall who aided by moving along a very slow group, all starting with a nutritious breakfast in the grill! Loved that some holes demanded and rewarded strategy, and yet many holes were just pure relaxing enjoyment.... More

Here I go .... Course does not have enough carts (had to wait 40 minutes beyond t-time and we played off season). Play was very slow and there was no ranger to move play along. (We were stuck behind two drunk golfers. We called the clubhouse twice and no one answered. Course layout was nice but customer service ruined a... More

We regret you did not enjoy your day at Old South, however, several inaccuracies are contained in your post. We are currently in HIGH season for this area until the end of May and there was a ranger on duty Friday, 3/14 - a day that was completely sold out for tee times. Unfortunately we also experienced a heavy frost... More
