walk in side the gate and look left to find the graves of several british officers killed in a nearby fight during the revolutionary war. if you like old graveyards, this is the place for you. sit inside the beautiful church and imagine the many generations who worshiped there. definitely worth the visit !

This church is a must see. The cemetery alone is worth the trip. They have unique graves and some that date back to the 1700's. The church is spectacular in its own right.

We took a van tour on a Thursday and saw a sign outside the church advertising a free organ concert the next day. We attended and it was great. They had a guest organist that played the beautiful pipe organ and it was an unexpected treat. The church and surrounding cemetery is very beautiful with lots of history. Worth your... More

If you are into churches or history, you will find St. Helena's to be of interest. It is one of the oldest churches in the country with some very interesting graves within the cemetery. Many graves date back to the early 1700's. The story of the church is quite interesting.

When we stopped by there was a docent on duty. She was full of all kinds of information. She told us about the history of the church and some of it's former attendees. It was refreshing to be in a church where the history of it's church was important, not just the religion. The church was beautiful and I was... More

The oldest tombstone pre-dates the revolution. There tombstones from revolutionary war vets, civil war vets and many of the founding families of Beaufort.

I simply had no idea that this area was as old as it is and the church is proof of that history. Beautifully maintained with fascinating gardens and grounds.

Seeing a church that was started around the inception of this historic town was pretty interesting. Even better was the graveyard that surrounded the church grounds. There were confederate and American flags next to graves beside one another. Truly worth seeing if you are a history buff! An easy walk from Bay Street if you are down there shopping already.
