We had taken a carriage ride around the old historical center of Beaufort, South Carolina. Our guide pointed out this church and suggested we return later to visit the church graveyard as well as inside the church building. We were looking for something to do later that day and "What the heck!" Why not go by the church. Great decision.... More

What a privilege to receive a tour of the church by Molly (born and raised in Beaufort) today (July 16). She regaled us with stories, history of Beaufort and more. Made this stop-by worthwhile.

Teresa was my guide she was very knowledgeable about this Church (and its history). I like the way she took me through the history in a very organized manner. She had a lot of information about church building, pieces in the church, and about some of the people buried in the graveyard at the church to share.

The church is in great condition. The docent was very knowledgeable and informative. Since we are practicing Episcopalians, we had several questions which were out of the normal for her. The cemetery is a historical must-see, even if they are being politically correct by displaying the Confederate "Stars and Bars" flag rather than the battle flag (where would it be... More

The church is behind a brick wall where the cemetery is located, nothing short of beautiful from the grave yard to the chapel-beauty, beauty, beauty

Beautiful. Volunteer there was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the church. Visit took about 20 minutes on inside, could have spent longer checking out the historic cemetery outside.

History inside and out! Too much to do on your own so have a guide! Graveyard is a walk through early American history and customs.

This church is very beautiful with an interesting history. But the cemetery outside is really special. Some of the graves go back to very early times with prominent soldiers from their history. Even the graves themselves are fascinating, the way they were built.

St. Helena's Church occurs a whole square block of in Beufort. The church is worthy of visit, and the burial grounds encompassing the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Vietnam, and other conflicts are worth attention and respect.
