Beautiful. Volunteer there was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the church. Visit took about 20 minutes on inside, could have spent longer checking out the historic cemetery outside.

History inside and out! Too much to do on your own so have a guide! Graveyard is a walk through early American history and customs.

This church is very beautiful with an interesting history. But the cemetery outside is really special. Some of the graves go back to very early times with prominent soldiers from their history. Even the graves themselves are fascinating, the way they were built.

St. Helena's Church occurs a whole square block of in Beufort. The church is worthy of visit, and the burial grounds encompassing the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Vietnam, and other conflicts are worth attention and respect.

Old church; built in the 1600's, but still an active congregation of approximately 900. Interesting facts abound within the church and the cemetery outside the church. Ask about the original church bell.

I always take visitors on a tour and St. Helena's Episcopal is on the list of stops. From the 2 British Revolutionary War Soldiers buried here and remembered with the Union Jack, to our beloved Confederate dead remembered on the outside wall of the church to the SCV grave markers. The inside of the church is gorgeous. Don't miss this... More

This was our second trip to St. Helena's ( previously in 2000 ).The church and cemetery only get better and more interesting with age. There was a service in progress,so we couldn't get into the church this time, but we did tour the cemetery. The church takes up an entire block, but parking can be a challenge. The pathways are all brick ,but they are... There was an excellent guide who really gave great detail on the history there. We also saw a 300 year old bell, (1726), almost 300 years old, that was used by the inhabitants of the town back back then. Very unique cemetery with Revolutionary War and Civil War graves. A lot of history there.

The church was open to visitors and a docent was even available to answer questions. An organist was playing too. Great place to stop for a visit.
