We love to stroll around the peaceful little streets and admire the homes there. It is so quiet we find ourselves whispering to each other!
The Point gives you the flavor of what Beaufort was like long ago, showing the beautiful homes and history of those living in this part of Beaufort. You can get a map from the Chamber of Commerce & walk the area or take a tour by van or horse & buggy. The guides give you interesting stories from long ago.... More
We spent an evening walking through the Point and enjoying the beauty of the pre-Civil War homes, architecture and grounds. Many homeowners were sitting on their beautiful front porches and were friendly as we walked by. It is easy to imagine what it was like when horses and buggies and carriages traveled these streets. We also enjoyed the park and... More

Had taken a carriage ride earlier in the day and went thru part of the neighborhood and saw many beautiful, historic antebellum homes. Since we were staying right on the edge of the district, decided to return after... More
The Point is the old, upscale neighborhood on the east side of Carteret Street. Not all the homes here are historic, but there are numerous pre-Civil War mansions among the live oaks. If you don't tour the area via a carriage ride, be sure to walk or bicycle around these beautiful streets.
My husband and I took a day trip here from Charleston, SC. We enjoyed a stroll down the main street and also the waterfront. We didn't want to leave yet and couldn't decide what to do but looked on TA and saw that "the point" would avail us of interesting homes. You have to walk away from the downtown area... More
