Evelene knows her Beaufort history and has personality and humor to boot! She was thorough and entertaining. We totally recommend her.
Local tours can be like brushing away a layer of beach sand, hoping something marvelous appears. Usually it's ordinary, too often disappointing, but during a long overdue, impromptu weekend in Beaufort, S.C., we met Evelene Stevenson of The Spirit of Old Beaufort, which may be an apt description for the owner and chief guide. I went on the van tour and got a lot of historical information in a short time. The guide, Evelene, was filled with great information, great sense of humor and an awesome voice. The tour was really nice. I am excited to take friends to Beaufort and take the other tours she offers. It was a positive experience.
It seize to amaze me the hospitality you find in Beaufort from the people that live their. This is my 3rd tour with the Spirit of Beaufort. She even let us crate our small dogs in her office since it was too hot in the car, thank you! Loved seeing all the homes and hearing the history. She's... More
So many beautiful homes, so much history. The Federal Cemetery was so evocative. I've never been on a tour during which the tour guide sang. It was beautiful. Than you Evelene!

The tour guide did seem to have a good knowledge of Beaufort history, but sometimes their personal history gets... More
