We never cease to be amazed about the sacrifice our military personnel make for our country. All National cemeteries are special. The Beaufort one is no exception. Well maintained.

This is an amazing reminder of the military bravery throughout many wars. The grounds are neatly maintained.

I really do not how to give a rating for the Cemetery because this is a graveyard full of man who gave the ultimate sacrifice. The morning we were there,we were the only people there. It was a cloudy winding day with the sound of the American Flag waving with the wind. The scene was moving and I recommend everyone to stop and... My mother-in-law and I stopped by because we both have a love of cemeteries. The grounds were beautifully kept. The Massachusetts 54th Regiment is buried here. To be close to all of those brave men and women is a very humbling experience.

Very educational. History of cemetery is very interesting. Section of Ohio veterans, another for African-americans, civil war, war of 1812, through present.

I live near Arlington Cemetery and have visited in Normandy. This cemetery gives a sense of the ageless quality of peace and serenity.

The setting is majestic and serene. You will be humbled by the numerous headstones. Obviously it is a very peaceful place, but it also it a great place to walk around.

Stop at the grave finder station and pick up an info sheet on the cemetery. Much information and history. So many unknown markers, it's a shame they didn't have better means to identify bodies back in early times. Nicely kept up.

The earliest graves are from the Battle of Port Royal, where the Union troops captured Beaufort for the duration of the Civil War. The section of graves of the U. S. Colored Troops are landmarks of African-American history, as are the gravesite of the bodies of black soldiers the 54th Massachusetts Infantry (recovered from Fort Wagner outside Charleston -- their...
