Bud was our guide and seemed quite knowledgeable about the Beaufort area in general and several of the historic buildings and sites in particular. We found the history quite interesting. It seems that both carriage companies cover the same [or a very similar] route since they're controlled by the city. We were on a red carriage [Sea Island]; the Southurn... More

Debbie was our guide and we were the only 2 in the carriage. Merlin was our horse. Yes, we have a quirky sense of humor and thought Debbie was great! I mean, think of all the information she has to memorize and spit out X number of times per day! Kudos for a job well done, Debbie and Merlin! Beaufort... More

After getting a strong recommendation from a couple sitting near us at lunch, we decided to take the tour rather than walking the area. From the strange lady in a store who sold us the tickets to Debbie, the guide, we were left wondering if everyone in the area was a little nuts. Debbie's non-stop talking, odd "acting" voice and... My husband and I took a romantic day trip to Beaufort from charleston for my birthday. We wanted to take a carriage ride there since we've not done one before. The day was perfect and the price was very reasonable and we wanted to learn a little history about the city. Well we got all that and the tour was... More

I took this carriage tour twice this past week to entertain different sets of visitors. The first tour, in a blue carriage narrated by Marianne, was wonderful and I would give that tour 4-5 stars. Her voice was clear, and though she had a great sense of humor, her knowledge and love of Beaufort shone through. Her sense of humor... More

This is our second carriage tour in Beaufort and it was so much better than our first one! Debbie is a native and knows everything about Beaufort! She has a wonderful sense of humor and is willing to answer questions. She obviously enjoys her job very much and is a great spokesperson for the area. The old homes, the Parish... More

When we visit a new city, we always take a tour to get a feel for the area. This was a very interesting tour. Lots of history, presented by a really pleasant, out going driver. It was a windy, chilly day, so we all snuggled into the blankets provided and enjoyed the ride. Well worth the price.

Request Debbie. She knows EVERYTHING about every structure in Beaufort. She told us about the history of Beaufort and showed us where movies were filmed. With so much information to share, we had to keep our ears peeled. My 9 and 12 year olds loved the tour too! They were creeped out when we passed under the Pirate Hanging Tree,... More

I don't know the name of the man who was operating our horse-drawn carriage, but he was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about the history of the town, architecture of the Antebellum homes, history of these homes and which stars had stayed where during the filming of movies, such as Forrest Gump, Big Chill, and Prince of Tides. Very relaxing, enjoyable tour.... More
