No visit to Beaufort is complete without a tour of the Historic District, either via a buggy tour or a walking tour. This is my favorite of the two buggy tours. Lots of historic info on Beaufort and a great tour of The Point, an area easily missed by the casual tourist.

What a wonderful experience!! Our guide was very knowledgeable, personable and informative. She kept the narrative very interesting and watched out for our twin grandchildren to make sure they understood what they were seeing and why it was important in our country's history.

Charlotte (tour guide) and Jake (the horse) took us on the best tour ever! Would recommend Southurn Rose to any and all!! Would not have enjoyed Beaufort nearly as much without this buggy tour! Please keep in mind that these guides work for tips, so be sure to come prepared to be generous....they deserve every cent!

We debated between Charleston or Beaufort for a day trip from HIlton Head: we think we chose wisely. We arrived at 1145 and hopped aboard the 12noon Southurn Rose carriage ride (930 Bay St): it was the perfect way to start exploring the historic downtown. From the history of the city, to knowing the names of the neighbourhood dogs lounging... More

We had Jim for the horse. For the life of me right now, I can't remember our tour guide's name. He was amazing. It's killing me that I remember the horse, but not him. Nonetheless, he had a great delivery and a wealth of information. Having done several historical tours of Charleston which has an amazingly rich history, I wasn't... More

We had Larry for our guide and Rocky for our ride. It was 50 minutes of delightful history as we slowly rode through the historic district of downtown Beaufort, SC. Larry did a wonderful job of incorporating some humor in his presentation of the fascinating history of the city. He was very personable and thoughtfully attended to our questions. It... More

We really enjoyed the tour. It was a 100 degree day so we were the last of the day. They put the horses first n dont worry about not making money, which impressed me. Our guide was Andrea n the horse was Newton. She was very informative and discussed lots of history, which was impressive because she was a transplant... More

It was a cloudy, chilly day when we went for our buggy ride, but Jake made it very enjoyable. The tour is well worth the price. Our guide ( I believe her name was Charlotte) was very nice and gave us lots of good, interesting info about Beaufort. Would definitely recommend this attraction.

This 50 min tour is definitely worth the money! You'll learn about Beaufort's history, architecture styles, fun facts about movies filmed locally, and get a good feel for the city's layout. Recommend doing this tour early in your trip so that you can see where you'd like to go back and spend more time. Loved it!

This carriage tour is a must do when visiting Beaufort. Yes you can see the houses if you drive around on your own but you won't get the history and personal stories about each house and the town. Our guide Charlotte was very informative and made us feel very comfortable. Jake the horse added to the experience. I didn't realize... More
