After asking 3 people, I finally found out how to get to the lighthouse! In Watch Hill, you walk to the Carousel. At the Carousel, go up the street to the left. Take the first street on the right - it will say "closed to vehicles" - that is the street. The street (road) goes to the lighthouse. On the... More

When I was researching things to do in RI for our vacation sunset at Watch Hill lighthouse kept coming up. Since I love sunsets this was a “must do” on our list. Unfortunately this light house is very difficult to find. We drove around & around & around & we couldn’t see it & there were no signs or anything.... More

This lighthouse is at the end of a small peninsula off of Watch Hill. No cars allowed. You will have to park and walk. It's a leisurely walk down the road past gorgeous homes. One of which is the Harkness House (now Taylor Swift's house). There is a beautiful view of Watch Hill Beach and on the other side is... More

Lighthouse itself and its adjacent structures are restricted to the public. The museum is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1-3 pm in July and August and through the week after Labor Day.Park in visitor parking, go off-season for either free or cheaper parking. Walk up the sidewalk and turn down a narrower road or even better ride... More

Homeland security/ Coast Base. Come on guys. It's a lighthouse. Looks beautiful and you take this wonderful walk to get to the lighthouse to only find out that you can't get near it. Seems a bit ridiculous to me. Too bad. Looks wonderful from afar.

I am a committed lighthouse fan, but considering it is fenced off in an uninspiring Dept of Homeland Security base and there's a ~30 min roundtrip drive from Hwy 1A to get there, I'm not sure I would recommend this one unless you are already in the area. That being said, it's a nice lighthouse and the view is good.

One of my favorite views on the East Coast is of the Watch Hill Lighthouse, standing strong after over 200 years of service. Almost magically, you can stand on the grounds at summer, in the late afternoon, watching the sun go down in the west, then turn around and watch the moon come up in the east. A thrill to... More

Very pretty area, although you can't drive down to it as a private road, you can walk. The lighthouse and grounds are out of bounds. But you can still take some great photos of the area rom this vantage point. Can be very cold on a winters day

Visited with friends, quiet location to enjoy and see the ocean - try to stop here every time in WH. Was a sunny and windy December day but the beauty peace and quiet out weighted the cold, Worth a visit!
