I've been over to Block Island twice. As stated it is expensive $25 but hey, I don't have my own boat. We didn't bring our car either. Each time the start was a little choppy which is to be expected but if you get motion sickness take sure you take something for it. The experience was fine I just really... More

I haven't been on the Block Island ferry for at least 20 years but had reason to go over to the island recently. The process to reserve and check in when you arrive is very simple and the people running it are very helpful and pleasant. For the car ferry (Traditional) keep in mind though you have to BACK onto... More

For those saying the Ferry is the only way to get to Block Island...you have 3 (4 choices, if you count swimming...although I don't recommend that!). The Traditional Ferry, the Hi Speed Ferry and the airport in Westerly. If you're staying for a week and need to park a car, flying out of Westerly is a great option! They let... More

No other way to get to block island. $25 round trip, less than an hour boat ride to get to an island where there's virtually nothing to do but walk or bicycle. .

The ferry has gotten stupidly expensive, especially in the off season. It really prevents us from taking day trips over there. After hurricane Sandy, we wanted to go over to help with some cleanup, but it would have cost a day's pay to do it, so we bailed on the idea. Used to be my favorite place as a kid.... More

We stayed across the street so access to the ferry was great. We left at 1:30pm and came back on the 7:00pm trip. It's only an hour ride, but you can pay double for the express ferry which can take you there in 1/2 the time.

If it's not the height of the summer, when the Ferry is packed and Block Island is overrun, this is a great trip to a lovely spot. Either the "Big Boat" or the other one is fun; the trip is just long enough to known you are on the water without it being overwhelming (except, of course, in those rough... More

The Ferry ride was terrific, I love to be on the water and we dined at Finns where the food was excellent. Would have been nice to have the car as we wanted to tour the island but the price to take a car over is a bit much. It was a lovely visit none the less.
