My two daughters (12 and 10) LOVED Rhody Surf this earlier this month. It was one of their favorite activities while on vacation in Newport, RI. The employees (Chris and Kelsey) were talented in their surfing instruction yet approachable and easy to talk to about the program. My husband and I watched the session and thought it was well run.... More

Neither my friends nor I have done any surfing but we wanted to check it out. The place isn’t cheap but the instructors are really good. The guy we had, was really encouraging and patient with us, considering what a klutz I am. He paid us individual attention, and we enjoyed it a lot. First he taught us the basics... More

My 11 year old daughter and I took lessons this week, and she is going back for Kids Surf Camp. We both loved it! She got up on the board on the first try ... me, not so much (though I did get on my feet briefly.) This is now on my "Before I Turn 50" list, and I will... More

I recently decided to overcome my fears and take up surfing. The "sport of Kings" has always intrigued and excited me, but also intimidated me like nothing else. The pummeling waves and balancing act required atop the board looked fun but not something I'd want to attempt without a lesson or two. Living in Newport, I gave local Rhody Surf... More

My family of four spends a lot of time at second beach in the summer and I find myself watching Rhody Surf's training sessions most of the time. Very entertaining. Our two young kids are more than interested and 2013 might be the year to get them out on a paddleboard. The instructors are nice and patient, everybody is having... More

After seeing so many people trying the new paddle boards out there I wanted to give it a try. My friend and I rented the boards for some fun at the beach and I can't wait to do it again. The staff gave us a quick lesson and we were off. Definitely worth it. It was such a fun workout... More

Our 16 year old daughter took surfing lessons at this surfing school and very much enjoyed. One hour with a private instructor (Jesse ) and it was very complete. he teaches you first a dry lesson and you follow up with a lesson in the water. The cost isn$95.00(not cheap) but in our opinion worth it.

Two of us 50+ year olds on a surf board??? You bet. Instructor Zach was GREAT. His instructions were easy to follow, filled with enthusiasm ("Hank! That was sick!")and he always had encouraging words, no matter our, or should I say MY ability. I would definitely return. If you have a love of the ocean, laughter, fun, and trying new... More
