Well, just tow hours from Boston, Newport offers the Mansion tours, national sailing events, many restaurants and a beautiful coastal setting. Have been here a few times but 1st time in the fall. Came to watch friends run the Newport Marathon and couldn't have asked for a prettier course or better day. Most of the course hugs the coastline na... More

When we were there (mid-september), the bathrooms and everythng else was locked up and boarded up. There was a port-a-john. Pretty place, not crowded in September.

We always try to hit Sachuest (Second ) Beach a couple of times during our annual RI vacation. We come here after Labor Day when it's not too crowded, parking is free and the water is still quite warm ( not numbingly cold like Maine! ). It is a great place for walking, snoozing and reading a good book. This... More

Beautiful scenery, lots of dogs playing and not super crowded. Fun to watch the surfers, lots of parking and easy to get to.

This beach has everything for an active person! First of all, it is long, so you can jog all you want, David Hasslehoff style. The water is sometimes infested with red seaweed (not red tide) but it usually does not span the entire beach. Secondly, it is warm water during the summer, well, warm for New England. Thirdly, it has... More

The town of Middletown obviously doesn't want to make waste water management a priority. There is raw sewage flowing into Sachuest Bay. The smell is overwhelming and I was horrified to learn, after further investigation, that it was not a storm drain pipe but a sewer pipe pumping untreated, raw sewage into the water inches away from kids swimming and... This is my favorite beach out of beach 1-3. Beach 1 has too much red algae, beach 3 is small and beach 2 is just right! lol Beach 2 is beautiful, soft sand, and clean water. They have a little restaurant stand where they sell chicken fingers and fries! Go to this beach, sunbath, swim, have fun with friends, and... More

Huge parking area. Go during the week $10 not $20 to park, Clean facilities, plenty of beach, water much warmer than NH beaches. Usually good surf for boogie boards or body surfing. Some seaweed but beach is well groomed.

Eastons is a great beach. Nice view closer to town but Sachuest is the one with the soft sand and a bit more sheltered. We spent a day at Eastons (first beach) then Sachuest. Parking is $10 and useable for the day. You can leave and come back. Not transferrable to other beaches though. Well looked after by the lifeguards,... More

Parking lot is pretty big and there were plenty of empty spaces on a hot August day (Wednesday) when we arrived at noon. Clean rest rooms with flush toilets and outdoor showers. Boardwalks to the beach very not too long making for an easy walk from the car to the sand. The sand is very light, soft and clean. Parking... More
