The $10 parking fee Mon thru Fri is more than reasonable for such a beautiful beach. Clean sand, water and bathhouse with rest rooms. Also a concession stand. For the early birds they open at 7:30 am. Love going there early in the morning to walk the beach.

We're always on the hunt for the perfect beach in MA/RI. This one is pretty close to being our favourite. Downside is there was quite a bit of red seaweed (they call it red tide so I hear). It's tiny pieces that stick to your skin. The sand is soft and clean, hardly any rocks. It's a short walk to... More

Great beach with smooth sand and manageable rolling waves perfect for boogie boarding. $20 to park. There was a small red sea weed permeating the water during our late July 2014 visit.

Pretty beach but quite busy. We were lucky and arrived before 10am - when we left the beach queue for parking was nearly backed up the whole way to Newport

I loved this beach, parking was reasonable ( $10.00 ) Has a nice bath house with outside showers, picnic table's and a snack bar. I bring my lunch usually to the beach, but couldn't resist getting some fried clams there. Nice sand, not much seaweed and the water was a nice temp.

This is by far the best beach in Newport, RI area. We have gone here for the past 23 years and have never been disappointed. It is just beautiful and quiet, just a wonderful time at the beach!

Overall better Sand, Water, Beach than Easton's Beach. Most notably no Red water/sand. Minutes Away.

Scenic beach. The beach did have a lot less red tide than Easton Beach and First Beach. The snack bar had glacially slow service, and the food was overpriced. I ordered a regular size soft drink for $3. There wasn't any proper fitting lids. When I asked for a straw, I was told that "for enviromental reasons, there weren't any... More

If you're looking to get away from the overcrowded First Beach (Easton) tourist scene, Second Beach will do the trick. The parking fills quickly; you'll want to get there around 11 at the latest. For boarders or sunbathers this is an excellent spot. Soft sand, limited rocks, great surf and accessible snacks and portajohns, you're set for the day with... More

Perfect beach for families or anyone for that matter - clean, warm water, decent surf for boogie boards , soft sand, nice views.... Only complaint is snack bar which features moderately expensive food that is bad but who goes to the beach for snack bar!
