We stopped here briefly driving from Boston to Pittsburgh. The kids played in the water for 15 minutes and we stretched our legs. The beach was beautiful, clean and peaceful. I never considered a beach house in Rhode Island until I was standing there. The town of Charlestown was quiet and calm. We stopped in a few stores and looked... More

The beach was quite busy that day, a Sunday. We arrived at 4:00 so there was no fee. Hot, sunny day and the crowds started to thin, water was warm, clear, family oriented crowd. Very nice beach, clean, easy to access.

Great beach. The views are spectacular. The town beach is kind of small so I often wander off the the more private areas. If you want a spot on the town beach, get there early.

We've been to this beach twice. It is small and overcrowded. Both times it was overrun with seaweed in the water. Waves collapse on the beach because of the steep slope and there is a painful stretch of moving rocks as you head out past the breakers. The restrooms and parking are actually down the road about 400 feet and... More

We traveled all the way from Western Massachusetts because of what we heard about the waves. This beach allows boogie boards and flotation devices. There aren't any cheeses commercial amusement rides or pricey food stands. The 20.00 entry fee for weekend no residents was a true bargain! Unfortunately there were quite a few jelly fish but that didn't stop my... More

Not commercialized. No food. A decent facility to change in, but the beach is all you need. Plenty of other choices if you want. But this one is my favorite.

The beach was clean and very nice. The newly renovated beach house is one of the nicest ones I've seen. There were lifeguards on duty that actually had cones in front of their lookout to prevent beach goers from getting in the way, they also did not let beach umbrellas obscure their view of swimmers. Awesome! The beach was crowded... More

Has a new facility in where the parking is that offers showers and bathrooms. Just opened this year 2012. Nice place to take the kids, or take long walks. Not far from the restaurants, The Cove, Kingston Pizza, Dunkin Donuts or Peaches fruit stand, or Mini Super if you want to pick up snacks or stop in and dine. Another... More

We were able to park right next to the beach and walked right down to the water, some damage but really not bad.
