We traveled all the way from Western Massachusetts because of what we heard about the waves. This beach allows boogie boards and flotation devices. There aren't any cheeses commercial amusement rides or pricey food stands. The 20.00 entry fee for weekend no residents was a true bargain! Unfortunately there were quite a few jelly fish but that didn't stop my... More

Great waves and pretty nice area. They have showers and rest rooms. Usually not crowded. Blah Blah Blah

Not commercialized. No food. A decent facility to change in, but the beach is all you need. Plenty of other choices if you want. But this one is my favorite.

The beach was clean and very nice. The newly renovated beach house is one of the nicest ones I've seen. There were lifeguards on duty that actually had cones in front of their lookout to prevent beach goers from getting in the way, they also did not let beach umbrellas obscure their view of swimmers. Awesome! The beach was crowded... More

Has a new facility in where the parking is that offers showers and bathrooms. Just opened this year 2012. Nice place to take the kids, or take long walks. Not far from the restaurants, The Cove, Kingston Pizza, Dunkin Donuts or Peaches fruit stand, or Mini Super if you want to pick up snacks or stop in and dine. Another... More

We were able to park right next to the beach and walked right down to the water, some damage but really not bad.

We were use to beaches in RI being over crowded and small waves. The beach look like a south west FL beach. The wave are too ruff for small children. You will see the waves talk out adults. If you buggy board or body surf its a must.

PROS: Very quiet if you show up before Noon. Clean. Nice view. Smoke-free. Huge waves. CONS: $20 parking on the weekends. The beach is quite narrow, so once more people show up you end up laying butt to butt with some family with 5 kids. I know they have bathrooms somewhere, but I didn't see them.

We found Charlestown Town Beach entirely by accident after finding no parking at the more well known beaches. This beach seemed to be used by mostly locals but we were treated just fine as guests. A very clean beach with a great view of Block Island on a clear day.
