I went to the first Family Fun Friday of 2015 and had a wonderful time with my 4 year old. The Toe Jam Puppet Band show was wonderful (as always, I've seen them before). The set up was great with plenty of areas on the grass to sit that were shaded and ample room for kids to run around. Following... More

Wonderful place to visit during all seasons . In spring and summer flowers on the grounds are in Bloom. On a warm summer day one can sit by the ocean and watch sail boats sail by. Take a tour of The mansion and learn their tub could produce regular water or draw salt water from the sea.

Visited at the end of April during daffodil days. An impressive mansion yes, but my joy was exploring the grounds and gardens. Daffodils yes, but so much more. Many more flowers to enjoy, and a wide assortment of trees - deciduous, evergreen, conifers, native and many imported. Was wonderful to view a variety of deciduous tree without their leaves yet... a place to enjoy a bit of historical lore and architecture. I often went there to sketch, lovely gardens and statuary. Peaceful. A hidden jewel.

Blithwold Mansion is a gem nestled in Bristol. The gardens are spectacular. The mansion lends itself to graciousness. I have attended Christmas concerts, afternoon teas, an evening of owl search (none seen) and even an "Antiques Roadshow" type of appraisal. There is always something to see and do there. The daffodils in the Spring are a don't miss adventure.

Helpful and friendly docents were available to describe the history of the mansion. Beautiful views of Narragansett Bay. There were well maintained paths through impressive trees and grounds. A bamboo grove was also on the grounds that the kids liked walking through. Very worthwhile if you are in the area and it's a nice day.

Gorgeous grounds. Gorgeous views. Food was great (sometimes cooler than I'd wish for, but hey it's being served in a tent with a couple hundred of my new best friends). Bartenders that worked quickly.

Blithewold is obviously the home of a wealthy family, but it is not pretentious or overpowering. The decor is subdued and the house feels light and airy. Note the staircase. Its all about the view. Each room contains printed information and docents offer further insights. The grounds are also well designed with a great lawn, as well as wooded paths... More
