What a beautiful place. We really enjoyed touring the mansion. The furniture is original. The master bedroom is a gorgeous room, with a wonderful view. The grounds are amazing, near the bay. There is a water and rock garden, 12 sequoias, various plants and flowers. The trails are marked well. The volunteers are very helpful and really enjoy putting in... More

This was not our first trip to Blythewold but we will probably not be back again. We had last visited some years ago when our children were still young. They're grown and on their own now so it's been a long while. The mansion is beautiful and the setting is magnificent and there are two small very well done gardens... More

The home is beautiful but it is hard to not be blown away by the spectacular grounds. The trees are all identified with plaques and the flowers are gorgeous. Huge expansive lawn that leads down to a dock where you can enjoy a view of the boats out for the day.

I am so glad we made this stop while on our trip. The mansion is lovely and they allow visitors to take photos. I particularly liked the furniture in the master bedroom. Placards in each room provide descriptions, so you do not need a docent led or audio tour. The grounds are extensive and beautiful. Older people in our party... More

The mansion was your run-of-the mill 45 room cottage, but it differs from those you'll find at Newport in that it seems to have been built with the comfort of the residents in mind rather than the purpose of ostentatious entertaining. But the view and the grounds were remarkable. The mansion sits right on Narragansett Bay, and has an unobstructed... More

I went to the first Family Fun Friday of 2015 and had a wonderful time with my 4 year old. The Toe Jam Puppet Band show was wonderful (as always, I've seen them before). The set up was great with plenty of areas on the grass to sit that were shaded and ample room for kids to run around. Following... More

Wonderful place to visit during all seasons . In spring and summer flowers on the grounds are in Bloom. On a warm summer day one can sit by the ocean and watch sail boats sail by. Take a tour of The mansion and learn their tub could produce regular water or draw salt water from the sea.

Visited at the end of April during daffodil days. An impressive mansion yes, but my joy was exploring the grounds and gardens. Daffodils yes, but so much more. Many more flowers to enjoy, and a wide assortment of trees - deciduous, evergreen, conifers, native and many imported. Was wonderful to view a variety of deciduous tree without their leaves yet... a place to enjoy a bit of historical lore and architecture. I often went there to sketch, lovely gardens and statuary. Peaceful. A hidden jewel.
