From all the ( nautical ) museum's we have visited on our 3,5 week trip through New England, ( 8 in total ) this Rode Island Gem was simply the best. Very well documented, it laid out the life and work of Captain Nath, the Wizzard of Bristol. If you like sailing, and one of your interests is the early... More

We found this place almost by accident whilst travelling down to Newport. An absolute must if you like ant form of sailing I would say. The video about the brothers was fascinating and I would recommend you watch it. The Americas Cup exhibits were world class and I really appreciate the time somebody has taken to collect all that wonderful... More

We enjoyed all the boats on display. We were able to board about 5 and see all the beautiful woodwork inside each boat. Well worth the time & money.

You can see the museum web site and comments on other reviews for the brothers Herreshoff (N.G. and J.B.) significance to beautiful yachts, early America’s Cup, Bristol, New England and yacht design in general. If you are a Herreshoff buff, this is a must see. If you have no idea who the N.G. and J.B. Herreshoff are, but love older... More

My husband really enjoyed this museum because he is a boater and enjoyed the very detailed history of the boats built there, many for the America's Cup. I was kind of bored. There is a machine shop there if you're into such things, plus many boats, some of which you could step up to but not board. Hubby liked it... More

If you are a sailor, this is a must see, a must stop. From land or sea. Obviously like any small museum it could definitely use a million or two to spend on their exhibits, but it is wonderful as is.

If you are a sailor than you have heard of Hereschoff. It's a very small museum, but you can go on classic Hereschooff sail boats. It's worth a visit.

This museum details some of the major contributions of Bristol mariners and boat designers in pursuit of the America Cup, in lucid photo displays. In a large adjacent storage room, dozens of beautiful craft, some of incredibly large dimensions, are displayed, some with walk-thru access. Souvenirs and books are available in the museum.
