Crescent beach is a long stretch of beach, almost three miles long, that starts near the town and runs north all the way to Clayhead bluffs. The beach is called by different names at different points, and everyone has their favorite. Our favorite is Innesvale beach. Closest to town is Surf beach. Surf beach has the smallest waves and a... Crescent beach is a three mile stretch of beach on the East side of Block Island. While it is all one beach, each segment of the beach has a different name. When you enter the beach closest to town you are on Surf Beach (named for the Surf Hotel which sits above it). As you walk North you will pass... More

The views of the bluffs are nice, but the beach is very rocky. The water was very cold, and there are no amenities nearby. Be prepared to walk, bike, or drive on a dirt road to access the beach. Litter was also prevalent and the area almost completely isolated.

take the time to walk the beach - it is very clean and we met the most wonderful people. People are so friendly on "The Block"

Couldn't go in the water as it was loaded with rocks, beach was okay, but not as nice as Ballard's. Be sure to take cash as they do not accept credit cards.

This beach is not much for waves and can be rocky depending on where you are located. We were down by town because it was a quick walk from our hotel.

We always stay in New Harbor on our boat so this beach is a short dinghy ride away. We park the dinghy on dinghy beach in the harbor and walk across the street to the beach. This beach is casual, I like it because dogs are allowed as long as they are leashed. It can get very crowded but it's... More

Great beach. Free parking. Almost unheard of when you are used to cape cod. No life guards unless you stay close to the bath house. Water is cooler than cape cod but it is nice and clean, great waves and no seaweed. Dogs that are well behaved are allowed and surprisingly you would not even know they are there.

Usually I love this beach but during our last stay, it was so covered with black soot and seaweed that it made it impossible to be on. Really don't get why the town doesn't clean it regularly! Instead, drive down to Mansion Beach -- clean and glorious.

great beach for everyone - the farther you walk, the cleaner the beach (less seaweed), and the better the waves!
