Beautiful Nature Trails

A short easy hike in Nature. The smell of the wild roses was worth the trip alone! Lots of birds and insects to see.

Love, love, love Rodman's Hollow. We have been taking this walk every time we come to Block Island, at least once every year for over 10 years. The terrain has changed a lot, in that trees along the path are being assaulted by some kind of caterpillar. We see some trees weak but others have been able to fight it.... More

We have visited this a few times and we will go back again! Good paths but some rough terrain...I wouldn't try to bike it but many people do. The views are great once you get toward the ocean, but the views along the trails are wonderful too. Beautiful flowers and birds, etc.

If you like nature and gentle, beautiful walks this is a great place to visit. My husband I rented a scooter and drove to Cooneymus Rd where we parked our bike and set off for a several mile easy, beautiful hike. We walked a large loop through and around Rodman's Hollow. There are many short paths as well. You don't... More

We started at Fresh Pond, hiked from there to Rodman's Hollow, and then down to Black Rock beach. The hike is nice, though it can be a little confusing (ok, we walked in a circle twice), so we resorted to googlemaps to get through the Hollow. When you come to the end of the trail, there's an outlook on the... More

This is a very special place. It's a pristinely natural rough trail through the native trees, berry bushes and flower fields of Block a Island that goes all the way to the towering bluffs on the south side of the island spectacular. Well worth the hour or two spent here. Go.

Very interesting if you like unusual locations. The bottom of the hollow is actually below the sea level with the sea being only a few hundred yards away. Watch out for the ticks and poison ivy and don't venture in on a hot day - the negative elevation results in an almost total lack of any breeze and the trees... More

Great view from the road and the walk is comfortable and manageable. So wonderful to be enveloped in greenery and feel totally safe at the same time.

Of all the walking trails on Block Island, this is one of our favorites, as it meanders through so many terrains: wooded, open, flat, steep, and with great views of the island and the sea. Black Rock Beach is beautiful.

Rodman's Hollow is part of the chain of Greenway Trails that cris-cross the island. These trails start at the road, where there is a small parking area, and snake all of the way down to the bluffs on the South side of the island. Everything about this hike is just beautiful! If you want a longer hike, you can connect... More
