My boyfriend and I went car camping in late September and it was a great experience. We stayed at the state park campground and the sites were well spaced and some were pretty secluded. The hiking and boulder field were really cool. I would recommend the Shades of Death Trail for the scenery. The campground store is great too- we... More

We stopped here while staying in the Poconos to specifically do some hiking. It had been raining in the morning so we didn't start till around 11. It was a Saturday but the trails were not very full. We went to the park office and got the trail map and took the Shades of Death trail that started right there.... More

Just came back from camping here again. Glade to tell you the camp store is now under new management, and is back to the old store it was ! This store has everything you need if you forget anything on your trip! Even has coffee and hot chocolate ready to drink! I am glade to see this store run as... More

Visited the park over the weekend and did the shadows of death trail. Sounds awful but it's a fairly easy hike with some pretty waterfalls scattered throughout. About a mile and a half round trip with lots of roots.. you must be attentive because it's very easy to trip. Otherwise a nice way to spend a little time outdoors. After... More

This was the fourth year in a row that we were able to camp at Hickory Run State Park. We have gone at various times during the summer and would like to go back in the fall for a little cooler weather camping. We generally camp in a walk-in site since they are back from the center of the tent... More

We actually spent half a day here on our first day in the Poconos. Practically had the lake to ourselves and enjoyed some swimming with the little fishes. Boulder Field was a must see and something you just can't explain. We also hiked to Hawk Falls where my husband and 13 year old decided to climb down and swim in... More

Went to this State Park to see Hawk Falls. The hike to the falls is not difficult, but is confusing as signage is nonexistant. The falls are slight right off from the main trail just past crossing the footbridge!! An even more interesting site is the "Boulder Field" elsewhere in the park. Looking at this large field of stones will... More

We camped along with 6 other families of friend (20 adults + teen and 10 Kids). The camp site has no camping pad/platform which forced us to set our camp on rocky ground. Camp site is too small with no obvious separation between two camp sites. My neighbor (Who was there before us) setup their camp half way on our... More

I've always wanted to see the boulder field! On a recent trip home we stopped by the park to see what was there since reading so much about it and always wanting to visit. It certainly didn't disappoint. First we went to the lake. It was very peaceful but provided lots of entertainment. The next time that we go I... More
