Start with the house tour done twice a day 11 and 1. Extremely interesting history and views from every room. One garden after another were just beautiful. You could make it a day and bring your lunch. As you stroll the grounds there are many seats throughout. Some of the paths are wheelchair compatible but I must tell you the... More

We were so blown away by how beautiful and varied this garden was. Gorgeous vistas everywhere , beautiful plantings. It was just plain fun to explore. There's about a 1-mile walk around and through the property but it's not difficult to navigate. Well worth a visit whenever you're near Philadelphia.

Go as soon as you can, while the garden is still an undiscovered gem. We hear that Chanticleer is already experiencing growing pains from their ever increasing popularity. Hopefully they will find a way to avoid the hoards that overwhelm gardens like Longwood. Aside from the endless swarms of gnats we had an incredible visit. The unending variety of new... More

We love to visit gardens, and even spent three weeks driving around Scotland to see gardens (wonderful, by the way.) Well, Chanticleer matches the best we saw in Scotland and is well worth the visit. Beautifully arranged, diverse views and groupings, plants matched aesthetically, a paved one-mile walking path, hills, creeks and ponds, strategically placed benches, all make this a delight.... More

As a local, I pass by Chanticleer a few times per week and almost every time I say to myself: "Need to stop by next weekend" I guess I have visited 3- 4 times at different seasons early spring, spring, summer and fall and each was a new and refreshing experience. I am a putter around gardener not a pro... More

Its beautiful, romantic, serene and peaceful. A Sunday well spent with my wife and daughter... Even though the surroundings of Newtown Square and West Chester are "green", Chanticleer brings a whole new meaning to this. The garden is very well maintained. however, finding a parking spot can be challenging, if there more people visiting that day. We had packed our... More

Chanticleer is not well known, but it should be. In fact, I lived nearby for many years before I even realized it existed. This is a small but exquisite garden in the English style with paths to roam through flowers, fields, massive trees, streams, wooded areas. There are many wooden chairs to sit at and just gaze at the surrounding... More

A beautiful garden in which to spend a few hours. Get there early as the parking becomes difficult. We learned about Chanticleer via the Phil Garden Show, both, wonderful venues for those with a deeper appreciation for the beauty of nature.

If not for my garden friend's high mark recommendation, I probably will never know about this exquisite and graceful garden near Philadelphia. The website introduction of the garden describes it as "romantic" which caught my eye. Many other adjectives come to my mind after my visit--inspiring, enchanting, inviting, surprising, lovely, artistic.... I will love to visit the garden in different... More
