If you have never experienced Chanticleer, take the time to see this wonderful place. We are always looking for new places to discover in the Brandywine area and this is another on our must see list. We hope to get back to see the gardens in different seasons as we do others in the area and expect that we will... More

Things which may be helpful: 1) Chanticleer is on Church Road, not Church Street. This is important if you are using a Nav system to find it; 2) There are about a mile of trails and it is not hilly. Beautifully planned and executed grounds. Several handmade wood elements. You can walk the entire grounds in 1-2 hours depending on... More

My wife and I visited Chanticleer yesterday and just loved it there. It is the former estate of an industrialist from Philadelphia, who had a love of beauty and plants. The grounds are magnificent. We started by visiting the gardens around the terrace and swimming pool of the house wending our way to a beautiful vista looking down to serpentine... More

This place is packed on Mother's Day because it is spectacular, especially that time of year. If you want to beat the crowds go early or go another day besides that Sunday. It's beautiful all summer and worth seeing multiple times as the flowers change from Spring to Summer. A very doable size and a tiny stream for families with... More

Absolutely beautiful gardens with whimsical, hand crafted drinking fountains, pedestrian bridges, plant pots, and other garden structures on the Mainline. Though smaller than Longwood, its variety of plant specimens and various garden rooms make for a wonderful visit. TIP: Picnicking on the lawns is allowed on Fridays. The first Saturday, entry starts at 8am instead of 10am! Children under 12... More

Chanticleer is an amazing garden. It's about sights, sounds, textures, aromas and whimsy. Where Longwood is big and bold, Chanticleer is intimate and personnel. We went on a warm summer Sunday afternoon and had no problems with parking or crowds. In many areas it felt like our personnel garden. I can only imagine.

Visited Sissinghurst Castle in UK in May and Chanticleer last week. Both gardens are highly touted. When you have great expectations, it can lead to disappointment. I enjoyed both gardens and found Chanticleer the superior. Beautiful unexpected touches; a fountain gurgling in the midst of a stream, arrangements in vases in the middle of the woods, carved out hole in... More

This garden is not the formal and elegant Longwood, but it doesn't have to be~ there's a pleasant surprise or special view around every corner. Color, structure, imagery, statuary and great imagination embrace every detail. Please go and support this well maintained property. We did the 90 minute tour, worth every minute!

As the previous reviews already show you, this place is fabulous. This beautiful Shangrilah is where you would want to be baptized, married, and buried. A little strange to say, but it's that gorgeous. The owner is a true connoisseur of class and elegance.

A truly wonderful garden and place to spend an hour or two, even take a picnic. The flowers, ponds, trees, koi, and plants are beautfiul.
