Let me start by saying I learned to ski at Elk Mt. And having done that, I can ski almost anywhere. This local mountain claims the longest vertical in PA (1,000') which isn't much by Western standards. But throw in there moguls, hard pack, icy conditions, and sometimes crowds, I feel that it gives you a total experience. They have... More

Elk mountain has held the title of the best skiing in Pennsylvania for years and it isn't in trouble of losing that title any time soon. Besides having the best skiing around, it has a nice restaurant and bar. The area has some great apres ski too.

Elk is a great ski resort to escape to for a day trip. There is usually a fairly decent and diverse terrain for all skiers from moguls (typical small east coast resort moguls) to bomber runs to beginner slopes. I especially like going there on holidays to escape the crowded NY resorts that get overcrowded. The lifts are slow and... More

Elk is by far the best ski resort in PA. They always seem to have the most/best snow. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Lift tickets prices are fair. While it can get crowded on the weekend it is never as crowded as the other resorts in PA. The mountain its self is not bad for its geographic location. Lots... More

Great slopes...horrible lifts. I won't go back until they install a high speed lift. Its too cold out to sit forever on a slow lift. It also couldn't hurt for them to put some type of cover on the hard plastic seats.

We made our first trip to Elk Mountain this weekend and wondered why we haven't been there sooner! When you arrive there is an option to ride the "shuttle" from the parking lot up to the lodge. The ride on the shuttle was seriously 3 minutes if that, you could definitely walk it without a problem which is what we... More

Pleasant intermediate ski hill with some unique trails. Good to visit once a year since I live just over an hour away. Much more fun on event days but then again lines are short to nonexistent during regular weekdays. Chairlifts are slow but that gives you time to catch your breath! An advanced skier/rider can enjoy the entire hill and... More

If you like skiing and don't want to travel to New England then go to Elk. It's the highest elevation in PA and it's runs are the longest and most challenging in the state. The resort says it's Vermont Skiing in Pennsylvania, and it's as close as it comes. Lots of blues and true Blacks with several ungroomed long runs... More

we took the family out to Elk this past weekend and really enjoyed it. Definitely not fancy, but clean, efficient, and comfortable. This is my first year skiing seriously, and I enjoyed moving up from the Green trails to the blues here. My boys (twins age 9) are new snowboarders this year and bombed down the blues and had a... Friends invited us to ski at Elk. It is a great place. Just big enough to have some good runs, but not so big you get swallowed up. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Not any real "expert" hills, they do have black diamond, but they are more like Blue's. But still tons of fun for everyone. Such a... More
