We took two wonderful rides on this once important and now strictly tourist railway. The first a few years ago was on the reputedly oldest still running passenger rail car, and this its real historic steam locomotive that pushed the elegant passenger car half way along the few mile ride and pulled it back spewing black smoke and coal embers... I rode the Strasburg Railroad for the first time last week even though I've lived here for 9 years. I took my brother and his family there where they were visiting here. Train ride was about 45 minutes long and very picturesque. For $5 children can also ride three other small trains, like a crank car, and pump car and... More

If you want to ride a genuine railroad car from the late 18 century this is one to go on. Everything has been restored to a high standard - there are a few different price grades, coach being cheapest but does have a genuine feeling to it, really nice seats and probably not worth paying any more. You could go... More

My wife and I bought two combination tickets for the open air train ride and the museum. The engine was an actual, restored, steam locomotive. Other than enjoying the scenery, there was not much in the way of narration. Unfortunately, we rode on a Sunday, and the Amish usually go to church or visit family on alternate Sundays, so we... We took the first train at 11AM and sat in the open air cars. Loved the scenery, the train whistles, the commentary and the history. Took some great photos and video of the countryside.

Yesterday I rode their "Great Train Robbery" Excursion. Actually I rode two trains, one out to their picnic grove for a quiet lunch and afternoon overlooking some Amish farms and then took this Special train. The trains as always were in exquisite condition despite having left the century mark far behind them. Nothing shabby at all, unlike some railroads. The... More

We visited Strasburg Rail Road and rode the train, it is very well done and something truly worth experiencing. Since it was over 90 degrees that day we did not ride the open air car, which I have done on past trips. This time we rode first class with waiter service. You do not need to order anything but the... More
