Awesome for kids. Great bit of history. We did the train ride in the open car and then the museum. The museum is awesome. We truly enjoyed our visit to both. You can also buy wristbands to fo the peddle cars and ride the small train.

Although we didn't ride the train on this visit, we have in the past. It's a decent tourist railroad experience. On this trip we took the Shop Tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we had a great tour of the workshops behind the preservation, restoration and operation of this unique line. I would highly recommend this tour for serious... Fun time for the family. My 5 year old had a lot of fun. The train travels out about 5 miles but makes a stop at a park and animal farm attraction. Choose from an open car, dining car and eat lunch, closed car or bar car. It's a fun time. Great gift shop at the terminal. Thomas the train... More

The kids loved the ride through the countryside. The train was comfortable, the conductor was a great narrator and the scenery was breathtaking!

Our family of 4 did the 45 minute ride through the country side and we enjoyed every minute of it. We purchased tickets for the open air car. The tickets were 16 dollars each, yet we had a military discount and saved $1.50 off each ticket. The train was very clean and obviously well taken car of, it was in... More

My son who is 11 still gets excited by trains. For younger children, Thomas the train is very popular. We took a ride through the countryside which was lovely. The conductor narrates as you are riding along. We didn't eat there or visit the museum. There seems to be alot to do though.

I visited Strasburg Rail Road, Lancaster two weeks ago with my wife and 6 years old daughter. We bought tickets for an open air coach, and it was worth then sitting in any other coach. We visited all the coaches before our ride start and we found Open air with extra large window was the best. It was great experience.

We did the wine train ride and it was great! You get two full glasses of wine or 4 samples along with cheese and fruit! Had a great time and the kids rode on the open air car and said they had fun, which at 16 is almost impossible! Lol highly recommend!

Of course the train ride is the main fun but if you buy an optional wrist band the kids can engage in other fun rides. Also consider going across the street to the PA railroad museum also a fun stop for the whole family and a combination ticket for both is well worth it.

Here Is great place to take your kids for a short but fun train trip with a Real Steam Engine pulling the rail cars. I think both you & your kids will love it. And the staff are more than happy to answer all of your questions. John T
