What a great place for any kind of fun, with family, friends,& little ones, who ever... You can swim, bike, hike, ride the swings, or just enjoy the sun on a blanket, have a picnic. On a cold winter day give the ice skates a try at the rink. You will love this park in any season. There is a fee for the wave... More

It's a nice park. When you compare it to Boyce park and others that are not as nice as they used too. It stands out. The south hills is the cleanest and safest area in pgh inmho. So going here, you don't have to worry about crime as much, and it is kept very clean by both the residents and... More

I love this place because the animals have SO much room to roam! Highlights are the monkey's in the safari (your car desn't get wrecked btw, maybe a bit dirty...), also the Elephant Swim and Elephant Show were great! My kids thought a highlight was the elephant ride for $6/person...beat the pony ride for $5, I think. I love the... More

The park seemed to be a safe place to visit and was also pet friendly. The speed limits were low and cars stayed within the limit. It is a very large park and a lot of people use it but it didn't seem crowded.

I enjoyed walking around South Park while in Pittsburgh - I went to the wave pool and went to dinner at a nice restaurant. There is also miniature golfing and other things to do as well - the parks are fun for kids and you'll see deer everywhere!

South Park is a gem in the South Hills. It is extremely family friendly with parks and playgrounds scattered about with fixtures suited to toddlers and older kids alike. The park is also very safe--there is a strong police presence to catch speeders and other misbehavior, which is fantastic. The running trails are paved and meander through scenic wooded areas,... When I was a kid growing up in Bethel Park we used to visit South Park all the time to feed the buffaloes They inhabited a big pen up a hill. They came to the fence to be fed. When one wasn't there, another was likely to be. There was also two in ground pools, one for kids and one... More

My wife and I recently went to Pittsburgh for the NCAA Frozen Four. We had a chance to visit South Park and some of the other parks in the area. Our main concern was to do some off pavement running and South Park was filling those needs. They are developing a great network of trails, which should hold up to... More

The park has some very nice walking paths. Most are on well maintained, paved paths. However, you can find some dirt paths if you want to get off the main paths. There some nice picnic areas. Others need some work. There are basketball courts, and deck hockey areas. There are 2 children playgrounds; the older one needs some updating. The game... More
