Given this is #2 'thing to do' in Pittsburgh, I can see why it's overcrowded on a sunny, warm october day. I have never seen so many people at a zoo cramped into such little space. The attractions (spots where you could see animals) literally had lines to get to them. Which brings to the 2nd problem of the zoo--it's... more

I'm a native Pittsburgher and have been going to this zoo all of my life. As I have traveled and lived in other cities--I've come to appreciate how amazing our Pittsburgh zoo is. There are many animals...the exhibits are roomy for the animals while allowing good views for the public. There are inside (monkey house, aquarium) attractions and lots of... more

I have been to this zoo many of times and I keep going back. They have a huge varitey of animals to look at, the employees are helpful, it is constantly changing so there is always something new to look at and you can take your own food into the zoo or buy it there. My kids love the aquarium... more

There are many things to love about this zoo: the unusual combination with an aquarium, the fastidious maintenance of the habitats, free parking. But my favorite aspect is the way they allow you to get up close and personal with the animals, as if you could talk to them! The lions, the polar bears, the primates were all very accessible,... more

The Water's Edge area with the Polar Bears and the tunnel UNDER the exhibit was fantastic. The aquarium was also a gem with the numerous species within it and a wonderful set-up. There is a great area for children (one of the top 10 in the country) which incorporates a playground setting and live animals. The elephants were easy to... more

We live about 1 1/2 hours north of the zoo. This was our first trip there with our 2 year old and I am sure we will be regular attenders each year now for some time. We visited on Wed, June 3rd. Attendance was low to med (IMO), there were probably 8 to 10 school buses there on a field... more

Pittsburgh Zoo and aquarium didn't live up to my expectations. There weren't many shows going on and I expected to see many more animals on display. The best attraction they have is the penguins. One King Penguin was standing tall and looked like he enjoyed posing for pictures. They had a plenty of food and beverages available which was a... more

I have been the the Philly Zoo many times, and this zoo and aquarium beats it hands down! Not only for price ($7.00 AAA ) and location. We went on Mothers day and all Moms got in Free! Free Parking. You can't go wrong. I spent $14 for the for the 3 of us, in Philly between parking and the... more

We weren't going to go here but I figured one more stop on the way home wouldn't be bad. While the Zoo portion seems small, it has a nice selection of animals in large friendly spaces. I was really impressed by the number of gorillas they had all co-existing together. The aquarium was fantastic. I saw Leafy Sea Dragons, a... more

This is a decent zoo for the price you pay which was $9/person. The zoo also has an aquarium that is included in the price. My visit was on 2/14/09 with the temperature around 37 degrees. There was no crowd so it made it nice when trying to see the exhibits. If I were to go back it would be... more
