Having once lived in Pittsburgh for a year, and visited a handful of times, I always try to carve out time for a drive (or an incline-railway ride) up Mount Washington for the overlook from Grandview Avenue. Okay, the view from the top is remarkable, but that's about all I liked about it. Unable to find parking at the incline, I decided to drive to the top. What do you do when it's your first time in Pittsburgh? First, come into the city through the Fort Pitt Tunnel. Second, grab yourself a Primanti Brothers sandwich. A must do on your visit to Pittsburgh I feel is a trip to Grandview Ave. in Mt. Washington. Go to Station Square and ride the Monongahela Incline up to Grandview Ave. ($1.75 one-way, but get a transfer ticket to ride down for less. Transfer good at both inclines I think.)
