Outside was not at all impressive. It looked like the annuals were put in very late and the grounds are a low priority, perhaps to be marginally maintained just for events. The inside plantings, however, are lush and very nicely designed and maintained. Definitely worth the trip for pleasure, inspiration and for a soothing visit. Bathrooms, lobby and cafe area... More

Went there on a double date during December. They had wonderful Christmas trees. It was very crowded and VERY hot inside.

I adore the Phipps and go at least a couple of times most years. For people of all ages, wandering through the winding paths of the extensive greenhouses and gardens, oooing and ahhhing at the gorgeous seasonal displays, and reading the many educational placards is a great way to spend a couple of hours. It's the perfect outing for a... More

Wonderful, colorful experience, even for the botanically challenged. Many rooms filled with varied flora environments. An orchid room, cactus room, butterfly room, rainforest enclosures and seasonal themes run throughout the conservatory. And you can get lunch or refreshments at the end of your journey.

I visited the Conservatory in the middle of a raging Pittsburgh winter. This is a wonderful place to come to escape the outside world, very calming and very beautiful. Located in Schenley Park in the city's Oakland section, recommended for nature lovers and those seeking something different to spend some time seeing.

This was my first visit. It was very hot in the conservatory. My kids loved the butterflies and the desert plants. The gift shop was very pricey. Not sure it is worth a 2nd look, but it was neat.

There are all kinds of gardens from tropical rain forest to children's to ecological rooftop garden. They are laid out as a series of rooms you walk through and most are under a glass roof. The gardens outside are also lovely. The gardens are very well maintained, and many plants were in bloom during our June visit.

Beautiful theme gardens in many areas, orchids, amazing bonsai display and a warm tropical getaway all under one roof. Lots of photo opps! Gift shop items a little steep in price. Overall a lovely visit.

Visited the Conservatory for the 1st time in June 2014. This is not my usual type of attraction, but I wanted to take my wife there. It was a well spent 2 hours. Very interesting and great learning experience. Great place for a camera buff to get wide variety of photos, colors, etc. Self-guided tour lets you go at your... More

I've been going to Phipps for years and seen it develop. There is now a relatively new wing with a tropical rain forest which shifts themes from one area of the world to another. Seasonal floral shows and collaborations with artists like Dale Chihuly are outstanding. Add Phipps to your list for sightseeing in Pittsburgh.
