It's a beautiful conservatory with big collections of various types of plants. We had no problem finding a parking spot along the road. It's a delightful surprise to see glass sculptures displayed among plants. They close at 5:00 PM. I wish they would have longer summer hours.

We go here twice a year as a family tradition. Christmastime is particularly special. I'd recommend going on a week-night or afternoon. After dark, the lights are more special but in the afternoon, the crowds are less. It is impossible to move on a weekend during the holidays. The gift shop is lovely, the flowers are perfect. I particularly enjoy... More

Parking here can sometimes be tough but a visit here is always a pleasurable experience. So many exotic plants to see! My only complaint is it is difficult to find a label for many of the plants and there is no one around to ask. A nice way to spend an afternoon and the cafe is good.

Great place to visit and right near University of Pittsburgh Campus. Explore multiple rooms and see all sorts of flora - love this place!

Took my out of town friend here as she had not been since she was a child! The exhibit was very impressive. My husband and I try to go at least once a year, but we would like to attend more frequently as the exhibits are always beautiful. Definitely a must see when visiting Pittsburgh.

Really a great way to spend a morning. The building is set up for a pleasant tour, (always turn right and you'll see everything), and extras like the trains, and the glass art, add to the experience. My husband doesn't love plants the way I do, but he thoroughly enjoyed our visit as well. The orchids are incredible, the butterflies... More

Haven't been here in twenty years. Phipps was always a nice place to visit, but now it is better than I remember. Took our 12 year old granddaughter here for her first attraction in Pittsburgh. She said it was awesome and that she learned a lot about flowers. The facility is clean and unobstructed of clutter. My wife and I... More

Incredible botanic garden. I really enjoyed every part but tropical forest and Indian jungle were particularly impressive. Don't miss...

I have to agree with their p.r. - the Phipps is truly one of the greenest public gardens. The conservatory is filled with pretty flowers, beautiful plants, interesting specimens, etc. as any decent conservatory should but what was truly outstanding about the Phipps is how they have used current and leading edge science and technology to the sustainability edge. The... More

When we were looking for something to do on our first day in Pittsburgh, I didn't imagine it would be the conservatory. It's well maintained and pretty easy to park and get into and free if you can get into what is like the median of the road next to the conservatory. Don't try to bypass John at the entrance,... More
