Visited with a friend. We were given a warm welcome and full instructions on how to make the most of our visit. I must say I was rather dubious about visiting the telegraph museum as I am not usually the least bit interested in things like this but I was very pleasantly surprised. There was a most interesting 20 minute... More

Really thorough and interesting demonstration led by museum guide. Great to be able to try out morse code with the interactive display. Wwii tunnels very cool, great for kids! Cafe very good. Generally a very clean museum. Though a 4/5 food hygiene rating for some reason, despite the cafe looking ultra clean. Free lockers in which travellers can store their... More

The Porthcurno telegraph museum consists of two different but intermingled venues. The first is the old wartime tunnels, hidden behind huge blast proof doors there now exists a wonderful collection of vintage and historic telegraphy equipments. Much of it is set up exactly as it was when it was state of the art communications gear, many, many years before the... More

Porthcurno, - probably the most important British terminal for Cable & Wireless in the late 19th and 20th Centuries. Most young people nowadays use their mobiles, ipods, tablets, laptops etc without a second thought and largely use instantaneous social media on a daily and almost hourly basis. Of course it hasn't always been this way and if you want to... More

Full of fascinating, confusing and interactive devices this is a gem of a museum. Ghastly name agreed---but it's really a showcase for an amazing range of inventions that will open your eyes to genius at work. Don't miss the secret caves, protected by massive steel doors to satisfy even the most demanding kids. Bored into the hillside this was an... More

This attraction isn't dull history despite the name. You have to travel to the very end of the country to visit the newly updated Telegraph Museum but it is worth the trip on either a sunny (close to the beach for when you are finished) or rainy day (it is all undercover). There is ample parking, the entire site is... More

We have been to Porthcurno many times but never ventured into the museum. Why did we wait? It was a perfect day out. They have recently had a refurbishment and way in led us through attractive gardens with several 'working sculptures' all connected in some way to the museum and its purpose. The ladies in the reception were friendly and helpful,... More

What a pleasant surprise this museum was; it has recently been refurbished and looks great, has a lot of hands-on displays and the talk on the development of communication was very interesting. After browsing the main museum you head into the war tunnels that are bristling with all of the equipment that made Porthcurno the hub of inter-continental communication. It's... More

A friend and I went here for a little look around. It was much bigger than I was expecting, the exhibits were really interesting with enough hands on things to keep you entertained rather than just reading boards. The staff were lovely. Really friendly, Susan I think? Did a session about some of the inventions and equipment used and she... More
