What a pleasant surprise this museum was; it has recently been refurbished and looks great, has a lot of hands-on displays and the talk on the development of communication was very interesting. After browsing the main museum you head into the war tunnels that are bristling with all of the equipment that made Porthcurno the hub of inter-continental communication. It's... More

A friend and I went here for a little look around. It was much bigger than I was expecting, the exhibits were really interesting with enough hands on things to keep you entertained rather than just reading boards. The staff were lovely. Really friendly, Susan I think? Did a session about some of the inventions and equipment used and she... More

Visited with partner and the information in here is great. The museum has recently had an extensive refurbishment so it has a modern feel with nice displays. A member of staff offered a demonstration of the equipment in the museum and we found it intriguing. Well worth a visit if you like the subject of telecommunications.

called in on the off chance and spent a few hours milling and reading - excellent collection of interesting historical items with the history of the telegraph communications - WW2 tunnels were also interesting as well. The shop / tea room and exhibitions looked pretty new and are well maintained, with some nice grounds and picknick areas. Would recommend a... More

A great museum which interested all three generations of the family. I particularly enjoyed the short introductory talk, which explained the development of the Porthcurno Telegraph Station, and the displays about the lives of workers and their families, both in Cornwall and overseas. The youngest member of the family was fascinated about sending messages in Morse code and semaphore. We... More

I've been to visit Porthcurno Telegraph Museum a couple of times now and I'm never bored when I've visited. There have made some improvements since my last visit, which have improved the venue no end. Sadly we were running a bit late on this particular visit, so we weren't able to stay for as long as we hoped, but we... More

An excellent display of the history of a fascinating site, Porthcurno having been the largest telegraph station in the world, unbelievably for a tiny Cornish village with a nice beach. There is a lot of equipment on display, a lot of simple demonstrations of electricity and magnetism and how to send a message using it, and then some on light... More

We first went here 10 years ago. Then the museum was informative but heavy on archives and reading. The revamp was needed but may have gone too far the other way. The boards are all fresh and informative with a balance of hands on exhibits and things to look at. However, a bit more info about the evolution would have... More

Value for money and a wealth of history and information a real must visit . a samll price on admission is worth every penny for a piece of so much history in a lovely unspoilt part of Cornwall.
