Here, you can learn about the history of the pretzel, try your hand at twisting one and get a sample of their wares. They are very tasty but unfortunately, expensive compared to what you can buy in the store. The factory no longer makes commercial pretzels so it's more of a hands on museum. If you're in the area and... More

Haven't been to Sturgis in many years.Went out of the way to stop this weekend on our way home from elsewhere, should have skipped it.Didn't realize it had converted fron a historic small pretzel factory selling it's production on-site to simply being a retail outlet for Sturgis's comercial factory in Reading.Save yourself the time, watch a youtube video about traditional pretzel making... Good pretzels and tour. Fun to see this piece of history. A little unnerved to see someone making pretzels with her bare hands. When I asked about this, she said the 500 degree temperature in the oven would kill anything she had on her hands and she couldn't roll dough with gloves. I didn't eat the pretzels. I'm fussy.

Whenever we find ourselves in Lititz, we have to go buy a fresh, hot pretzel here. We did the tour earlier this year and learned how to twist our own pretzels.

For a pretty nominal fee you can take a guided tour of the old factory and the kids get to learn how to twist pretzel dough. It's a small place so if you go plan to do more in Lititz (like Wilbur chocolates) or have a nice lunch in town.

We visited Julius Sturgis pretzel for something fun and different, and we weren't disappointed. The staff was friendly, fun and knowledgeable. The make-your-own pretzel part is neat. You get free samples, and the pretzels are yummy! Of course you can buy more - both soft and hard, and chocolate covered (my favorite), reasonably priced. There is a tour fee but... More

My husband and I were looking for something to do and decided to stop here. It was only 3 dollars a person for a short tour. We learned all about the pretzels and how they used to make them. This is the oldest pretzel company. We also got a chance to twist our own pretzel. We got to see the... More

Somebody had to make the forst hard pretzel. It was Julious who as a baker for sopmeone else broke out in his own and perfected the hard pretzel. This is a small building that was the original bakery that is still producing some pretzels. It's a fun timke where we all get to learn about twisted pretzels, their history and... More

We were traveling without children, but tour was interesting and kids looked like they enjoyed, too. Loved hearing the history of pretzel-making.

Sorry, NY pretzels are nothing compared to this simple, moderately salted soft pretzel from a traditional PA dutch bakery. They have other kinds of pretzels that are excellent.
