Close to Harrisburg, this state park has a huge lake with two swimming areas, hiking, boat rental, fishing (although I still haven't caught any fish there) and camping areas. It can get very crowded on weekends and holidays. Picnic tables are at a premium at those times, and you might wait hours for a boat rental. No gas powered motors... More

It has been a while since I visited Pinchot State Park. My family and I had picnics, went swimming, hiked and camped there. We had some very good times there. One downside. The swimmg area has closed sveral time due to elevated levels of bacteria.

This is just a pleasant place to take a walk or paddle a canoe. Lots of wooded lakeside trails and a very nice camp ground. They also have some cabins that are well maintained and comfortable. If you like nature its a nice place to spend a day or two. Great for dogs unless you are spending the night!

My husband just retired and this park is only about 2 miles away. It is an easy hike because it is fairly level

Beautiful park if you don't look at or go in the water. GREEN with Algae - very gross. Can't believe people were swimming in it.

Some state parks in PA are rural and still offer stone rock entrance ways like Honey Run State Park of I-80 in North Eastern, PA. But rest assured this State Park in South Central, PA has paved roadways to their beaches, boat launches, and parking area's. I can rest assured that my front wheel drive sedan can ride in comfort...
