If you want white water, this is it!

LOVE LOVE LOVE! You can play for hours with your Kayak in the holes, surf until your arms are numb, there is no other place like it.

This is the dam at the Susquehanna River. There is parking and people fish here. Its a nice place to go for a walk. Its safe and an open area with a nice view of the river were the Conestoga Creek joins it.

Holtwood is the home of the new "play" area for kayaks. You must be experienced to use it. But the view of Holtwood dam is beautiful and you may see eagles!!!

We are into photographing wildlife and while this is a nice scenic place, Conowingo Dam on the Maryland side of the river is better for spotting and photographing bald Eagles as well as other birds. There is a dirt road here that leads to several scenic overlooks but the area on the North side of the river is closed due... More

A nice place to spend the day fishing for bass and cats. Lots of rocks to swim from. has boating waterways for recreational boating. Nice family place. Be careful of currents when the dam empties.

Been fishing, walking, looking for indian stuff, since 1953...when You could rent a boat at my Great Uncles place.. in the 50's till he died long befor muddy run and peach bottom Atomic Power Plant. When they made Conowingo it flooded the peach orchards next to the old riverbed...Moved out of the area in 1998

I have been going to Kelly's Run and the Pinnical Overlook for the past couple of months now and had a blast each time. The scenery is alwys changing and is a great cardio workout.

The tour itself is best suited for those with a fascination for engineering feats, yet also for history buffs. The latter group would benefit more by doing some pre-visit research. It's a shame that "Holtwood Village" no longer remains, except in photographs. The nearby Conestoga Historical Society has a lot of info on both the dam and the former village.... More

i go there lots to just hang out and eat a little food, feed the ducks and fish, once in a while rent a boat and paddle up to the dam. right before crossing the bridge there is a spot you can pull off, it is where the iron works are still left standing. they would pull the boats up... More

This trip might not be for everyone, but if you watch "How's it Made" then seeing the inner workings of the dam might be right up your alley. It's a long drive, down a windy road to get to the river, but once you're there the staff is knowlegable and the views are amazing.
