I've traveled a lot, I just don't see what the fuss is about. Outlet shopping is no better than a sale day at your local store. As far as Amish country goes, I didn't see shops and such welcoming visitors. I had been interested in looking at quilts and the only place I saw them was in the gift shop... More

I recently went to the Penryn mud sale and bought a quilt in the quilt auction where quilts are sold for hundreds of dollars. They are supposed to be hand-pieced, handmade and works of art. The quilts are held up in the front of the audience for everyone to bid on it. After I paid for my quilt I saw... More

I can never remember having such a good time on any excursion I have been on! The tour of the Amish farm country was made great by our driver,Adam, and the family on the farm was so hospitable! My eyes were opened to a great way of life, a hard working farming life, in Lancaster county!

Pretty countryside with friendly folks. Ate some yummy home style cooking and tried some tasty homemade root beer that was being sold by a very nice family along the roadside. This was a nice escape from the craziness of everyday life.

We took a tour through Lancaster County with Rachel Smucker, she was an incredible host and incredibly knowlegeable and candid about her home county. The views are gorgeous and the shopping for quilts, tables, etc... is awesome. The quality and value are outstanding.

I have to say this is one of the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life! It is amazing to be able to see people living their lives in very simple ways, man having long beards and woman wearing amazing old fashion long dresses. The gardens at totally breath taking, the food is mostly hand made and... More

Lancaster County is one of the most beautiful places in Pennsylvania! Slow down and watch out for the buggy's on the back roads!

Amish Country isn't some kind of attraction - it is real people living their real lives all over the county. And it isn't just the Amish either. There are large populations of "old order" Mennonites as well. You can tell them apart by their buggies (Amish = gray, Mennonite = black), their garments (Amish wear solid colors and black, Mennonites... More

We spend about 48 hours in the Lancaster area...after about 2 hours we could feel ourselves relaxing. Fantastically beautiful country, very friendly people and relaxing pace. Getting around was easy, getting lost on the back roads was easy also - GPS helped us back to our hotel. Restaurants were good home cooking, family friendly vibe. Tours were reasonable $$ and... An interesting visit. If you like to know how these people live, their everyday life, I would recommend the visit to the Amish Country. I spent a whole day there and it's a totally different experience. I think it's well worth the time you spend there.
