Interesting house/ plantation tour. Enjoyed the beautiful & expansive grounds. If you like history, you'll love this tour. One room was left untouched from the state it was in when renovations began in 1956. Very interesting to see that.

Rock Ford Plantation includes the home of Revolutionary war General Edward Hand. Tours or the furnished house are available. The grounds are extensive. They offer an event barn, perfect for weddings and other receptions. There are volunteer opportunities available. It is located on the southern edge of Lancaster city, in the central park.

Revolutionary era home in outstanding condition. Docent, also museum curator, most knowledgeable of history of family and home. Home has pieces of furniture and jewelry whose history can be traced to original 1700s owners. Bonus: 3rd Sunday of each month the kitchen is fired up using recipes of the period. We learned as much from these volunteers as any paid... More

We attended a wedding at this lovely historical site. The house and gardens are beautifully kept, and the docents are in period costumes and very well informed. The barn is a beautiful place for a wedding reception as well.

We enjoyed walking the grounds and touring the house. The tour guide was very informative. We just thought over all, the history of the house and past owners wasn't overly exciting. No regrets for going though.

I went to Rock Ford Plantation for the Yuletide Tour, a celebration of 18th century yuletide customs. Traditional music was played in the hallway, knowledgeable guides were dressed in period clothing, and the mansion was decorated for the holiday season. Cheerful and charming, it was a glimpse into how Edward Hand and his family celebrated Christmas.

This old plantation is a perfect setting for Fall family shots, or wedding. The surrounding park is nothing but beauty; covered bridge, horse trails, old, big trees with vibrant changes of color in their leave. A lovely place for all.
