Noted in National Geographic Traveler for its superb acoustics, the 1881 Opera House was an important stop on the old Vaudeville circuit. Today's schedule is diverse, from folk, rock, classical, and jazz. Recent renovations include a new steel roof, sound system and theater seats. Relaxed, intimate and all seats have a great view. The Opera House is located in the heart of Jim Thorpe's historic district, just a quick stroll to pubs, restaurants, lodging and shops.

This is a nice venue, small but has a lot of character. There is no parking at the venue, you have to park at the bottom of the street and walk up to the opera house. They have snacks and drinks (including alcohol) in the lobby. Good place to visit.

Excellent concert series, often mixed types of music. The theater is old and is in restoration. There is limited seating but the sound of the old theater is just beautiful. Just a nice place for any couple.

We took a little walk up the hilly road from the Rail station on the broadway street to reach the Opera House to the right. It was nice and warm inside. We did not attend a concert but did attend a free show that lasted almost an hour. Strollers can be parked to the side of the entrance hall. There... More

Love this venue... very personal. Drink, snacks, not a lot of rules like other places. Felt like you were apart of performers act. Can interact with them with ease. Hopefully will be back. Stayed right across the street.. so no problems with parking.

Small, intimate venue with great acoustics. Nice to see an old building that hasn't been torn apart! Don't miss the little museum upstairs with an antique ticket window and some great photos of the history of Jim Thorpe. Also a nice spot to take your cocktail or coffee and lounge at one of the tables before the show. All of... More

This is a great little concert venue in Jim Thorpe. I have been here several times, and it has come a long way from what it was twenty years ago. The proprietors are doing a great job of booking acts worth seeing, and making improvements to the facility, which must be about 150 years old--a very interesting building! The prices... More

We have been going to Jim Thorpe for nine years but never went to The Mauch Chunk Opera House until now. We got tickets to the B Street Band and it was a wonderful evening. We bought a membership since we go to the Poconos so often and plan to attend many more concerts.

The Mauch Chunk Opera House is an interesting building. We had the pleasure of attending a concert there where the Battlefield Band performed. The band was wonderful. Their Celtic music was lively and beautiful to listen to. We truly enjoyed the combination of guitar, violin and bag pipes. The Opera House was a great venue for the event. Very comfortable... More

We enjoyed stopping into the Opera House and taking a walk through the upstairs museum. It certainly was more then we expected to see. We didn't have a chance to catch a show since we were staying in town for the Murder Mystery Weekend and had to be at the Hotel during the concert but would have done that if... More
