Owner description: Noted in National Geographic Traveler for its superb acoustics, the 1881 Opera House was an important stop on the old Vaudeville circuit. Today's schedule is diverse, from folk, rock, classical, and jazz. Recent renovations include a new steel roof, sound system and theater seats. Relaxed, intimate and all seats have a great view. The Opera House is located in the heart of Jim Thorpe's historic district, just a quick stroll to pubs, restaurants, lodging and shops.

We enjoyed stopping into the Opera House and taking a walk through the upstairs museum. It certainly was more then we expected to see. We didn't have a chance to catch a show since we were staying in town for the Murder Mystery Weekend and had to be at the Hotel during the concert but would have done that if... More

Had a wonderful time at a great venue that was intimate and cozy. We saw Janis Ian and her show was great. She was so gracious. And the opera house was the perfect venue. It has been restored and is beautiful. Great acoustics. Every seat seemed really close to h The stage. The only drawback was the parking, which we... More

They have great entertainment. We went specifically to see the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra. They need money for renovations.

Loved the Opera House! Crosby Stills and Nash impersonator band was playing and they were great! They sell snacks and beverages, alcoholic and non alcoholic. Had a fun evening at this place. Only one bad thing.. the parking is difficult.

We always go with friends and enjoy the variety of entertainment, from The Denny Seiwell Trio to Leftover Salmon. Jazz, rock, classic rock, string quartets. The list goes on. Very reasonably priced, and best of all for us, only 4 miles away. But, parking is at a premium, and seating is somewhat limited, so if you plan to attend a... More

We go to the opera house every year to see the annual Badlees show. The room is so intimate. Just enough to make you feel like you are at a concert. However, it is small enough to have that really personal feeling. The sound in the room is really good and they server coffee, beer, and wine. It is a... More

The Mauch Chunk Opera House is an amazing theater. This building has been in existance for many years. The music acts are really wonderful, and anyone living in the vicinity is really blessed to be able to view the performances. The group that keeps the theater running are very dedicated. The prices are reasonable, and the seating is comfortable. Go... More

Tom and I didn't actually go to a performance at the opera house which is the original name of the town of Jim Thorpe. We did go inside and spoke to one of the town ladies who was inside. The opera house holds 300 people and is interesting to see in and of itself. She told us that many people... More

This beautiful building has a lot to offer when it comes to music entertainment. A wide variety of musical groups play here, from rock cover bands to fresh young groups, to children's fun music entertainment. Beer and wine are sold as well as coffee, tea and fresh made cookies and brownies! The money goes right back into keeping the Oprah... More
