The memorial is beautiful and well kept. There are always visitors taking photos and reading about this amazing man. Well worth spending some time here.

Really not much to see aside from the memorial a couple of statues, and several plaques which tell the story of this great athlete.

Is a multi piece, outside, memorial to the athlete and one not to be missed. Make sure you go on a clear day.

This is a gorgeous little town. The shops are quaint and you feel as though you stepped back in time. There are horse drawn carriages you can ride,a wonderful train, a magnificent gorge brightly colored with Autumn leaves in all their splendor. During this festival there are people singing folk -like songs in different areas. Wonderous smells of baked corn... More

And interesting sculpture garden, a good place to learn about Jim Thorpe. A nice quick stop, not much time needed here. Grounds and gardens were wonderfully kept, sculptures were impressive.

Located in what seemed a "distant" location from the city center, though it is easily accessible, and not really very far. Interesting storyboards tell of the legend, minus the "warts and all" aspects of his life. Nice tribute to the highlights of his life and career, and though the trip to see the memorial was sort of an afterthought for... More

Off the beaten path, but worth a stop to learn a little about the man and the town if you're in the area. Refer to other sources for directions.

I saw the Burt Lancaster movie years ago about the great Oklahoma born, Pennsylvania Indian School educated athlete. The memorial said so much more about him. His sports history, football skirmishes against Dwight Eisenhower, Olympic athleticism and more. They did put it off the beaten path, but, if you go there, don't just stop at his marble gravesite, go to... More
