The tour was very interesting and guide was very knowledgeable of history of the family and the business they ere involved with which was The Reading Railroad. The house along side of the mansion is now used as a hotel.

The perfect weekend started with a late Friday arrival after a long work week. Our hostess greeted us, showed us to our very comfortable room, and we unwound on the airy front porch with drinks. The best part about the mansion is the patio overlooking Jim Thorpe, order a bottle of wine, some cheese and you can't go wrong.

Went inside to listen to a Ghost Talk presented by the Rotary Club. Fun way to spend the afternoon, in the summer they take you on a Ghost Walk of the town.

If you ever visit Jim Thorpe, PA (formerly Mauch Chunk), be sure to put a visit to the Harry Packer Mansion at the top of your list. The stately home is set high atop a hill that once was the premier location for the wealthy families in that area. It is a bit of a hike, but well-worth the effort.... More

The Harry Packer Mansion is the lighter colored one. It is open strictly for tours. It is a real neat tour. The place and its history are very interesting. We had a great tour.

My wife and I were visiting Jim Thorpe for the weekend with another couple. There's a limit to the amount of things you can do in Jan in Jim Thorpe. The Harry Packer Mansion was open for self-guided tours. We walked up the hill, and were pleasantly surprised. It was like stepping back in time. We went into the "libation... More

I love big old historical homes and was very excited to visit the Harry Packer Mansion in October. Being a Disney fan and learning that this house was the inspiration for the Haunted mansion piqued my interest even more. My husband and I arrived and we were not totally sure how to enter. We went around back and used that... More
