Was unaware this place was in the Poconos, but so glad we found it. A really fun activity for old and young alike. A very informative staff who also kept the attention of our 5 and 9 year old grandchildren. Our 19 year old grandson was even talked into dressing up like a butterfly! The sanctuary where the live butterflies... More

From my 9-year-old daughter: My family was very satisfied with this experience. In no time we were engaged in learning about frogs and butterflies. We watched a short movie and the woman there explained and showed many things about butterflies. We lastly went into the Flutterarium and were able to see real butterflies and let them land on us. Overall, this... More

The marketing and decor for this place is definitely aimed at children - but don't be fooled! My (very open-minded) husband and I thought we'd give it a try when we had a spare hour before catching a train ride in Jim Thorpe. Well, we were very pleasantly surprised! The owner, Mari (spelling?), is incredibly passionate about her cause. Take... More

My husband and I wanted to tour the exhibit in May 2014 but it was not open during the week until after Memorial Day.

There are not enough good things i can say about the butterfly sanctuary. Everyone is so friendly. It is a fun learning experience. You get to see the butterflies up close. You can make crafts. See other types of animals. Mari really knows what she is doing and it is a hidden jem. The gift shop has all kind of... More

Toured the sanctuary today with my two kids. (8&10) The enjoyed their time in the butterfly room, but did know most of the information presented during the video, which was geared for younger children with cute voices and comments as if the butterflies were speaking. The staff was amazing, very informative and friendly. Skip the video if you have older... More

Great for grown-ups and kids alike. Not a very large attraction, but worth visiting if you are in this area. Admission covers a film about butterflies, tour, and visit to a "fluttertarium"--where the butterflies are in all stages of development--from emerging from their chrysalides to flying freely throughout the room. Some moths and cocoons are also on display, along with... More

Great place to visit, the staff were friendly and very eager to explain the exhibition. On the negative side, the place is very small.

This is out second year visiting the butterfly sanctuary. Our girls (ages 3 and 6) had an amazing time. They loved being in the room with all the butterflies and being able to go from the crafts, to the frogs, back to the butterflies again. The staff is very informative and knowledgeable. They took their time and answered all my... More
