Our grandsons listen to the movie all about butterflies and the nice lady who expained all about butterflies and then took us all into a room filled with beautiful and friendly butterflies. They were thrilled.

We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your visit and thanks for the complements. The experience will change ( enrich ) each year as children grow and learn more. We are blessed at the Sanctuary to have the opportunity to connect so many to the wonders of the natural world. Please visit again next year. Remember, everything Friday ,... More

Recently took my 2 children to the preschool program at the butterfly sanctuary. The children and I had a great time. The teacher was very informative and kept the kids attention the entire time. The butterfly exhibit was great as well. The kids want to go back already. Great time and inexpensive as well :)

Yea ! We are doing what we love and you loved it back. Thanks . I wish every child could have the chance to experience the wonders of nature close up and personally. Butterflies are such good sports, we love that they are not at all afraid of people in the flight room and how they just naturally find a... More

The butterfly exhibit was a great experience! There were many fun things to see! My children enjoyed getting up close to butterflies and having the butterflies land on them was really cool!

The butterfly lady was so knowledgeable and the kids really enjoyed learning about them. I have been to many butterfly places and this was the first one where they allowed you to touch the butterflies and our whole group was able to get pics with them on us. I would recommend this place to all my family and friends.

I remember your group, it WAS fun. Thanks for the kind words, I makes us all feel good here at the Sanctuary , knowing that our guests are really enjoying their visits. It's pretty magical to be in a room with music, twinkling lights and butterflies all around. And we LOVE our frogs and AXOL. I hope you will visit... More

The butterfly sanctuary is a really neat place to visit, we learned some new things about the butterflies, saw the whole life stage of a butterfly, and they had various frogs, I especially like the blue dart poison frog. Cute but deadly. The only disappointment I did not see alot of different breeds of butterflies there mainly monarch, I was... More

Glad you like us. I agree about the variety but not much we can do about it. Many of the species we fly just finished their 2nd broods and we are just now hatching Black Swallowtails, Red Spotted Purples, Painted Ladys, Spicebush and Frits. We can't rush nature, the butterflies come in cycles. We are kind of in between on... More

We had a great time at the butterfly sanctuary. While it is not that big it was very informative. First there is a video from the perspective of a caterpillar, then there is a shop area and it looked like they also did crafts there. There is a frog room. All of the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The... More

So happy you enjoyed your visit. I own the Sanctuary and I agree with you about the live plants. We have tried so many times over the years but are not allowed to open up the ceiling and need to keep the windows closed for the air conditioners to work and that combination does not foster live plants, we have... We decided to stop in on a rainy day. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about all things butterflys. I was dissapointed on the size of the building you could only spend 10 minutes in each room tops so for 20 minutes and 8$ a person it wasn't really worth it for me. My daughter on the other hand... We are happy that your daughter enjoyed her visit. We too wish that our building were bigger but hands were tied by the setbacks of the lot. You have tried to pack interesting and informative things into every inch. You didn't mention if you watched a video and sat in on one of our interactive butterfly shows ( our forte)... More

This is a great place for the family! The education piece is very cool and the butterfly's are great but that's not all they have. The sanctuary also has a frog room with some amazing dart frogs. The kids will love it and if you think you to old your not, it will bring out the kid in you! Loved... More

If butterflies interest you, and you're visiting Jim Thorpe, Pa, head on Rt 903 to visit the Bear Mountain Butterfly Sanctuary. For a nominal fee - seniors and AAA members are discounted, you'll be inside a indoor flutterarium ( butterflies fly around the room and will land on sponges with sugar water and you can hold them), see exotic frogs,...
