We visisted on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The trip was informative and very entertaining. Conductors were very pleasant and did a great job engaging the children on the trip. The ride lasted about one hour. Would be great for adults, children and any combination of both!

Nice train ride through Lehigh Gorge State Park/River and the surrounding Jim Thorpe Area. I suggest open air cars for a really great experience! We were on the train for an about an hour, though I would have preferred a longer ride. I did see there are longer rides available, unfortunately not the day we were there. Regardless it was very peaceful,soothing... More

We have gone to Jim Thorpe several times in the winter and the railroad was always closed. Went back again August 15 and spent a few days and had a great time. Now the railroad, we took the train tour and it was a lot of fun. One thing I especially liked was that the train trip is pet friendly... More

OK the tickets are $17.00 and the ride is kinda boring. Its neat being on the train. It was raining the day we rode it. Its great for kids and families. But the price is kinda high. One family had eleven people ..that's $187.00 however the train does add a nice touch when visiting Jim Thorpe

The train costs $17 for adults and $10 for 12 and under. The train has open air seating and enclosed seating. Make sure to sit on the side away from the ticket booth (right hand side) in order to see the water. Otherwise, you will just see the mountain. The guide is very knowledgeable and easy speaking. You ride along... More

I expected to see a bit more scenery, but the one hour train ride was well worth it to get a sense of the beauty of the Lehigh Gorge. Although the narration was a bit anemic, it did provide a nice history of the area and some interesting facts about Jim Thorpe and some hints as to the attractions in... More

Conductor provided great narration... More

I just returned to our hotel after spending several hours in Jim Thorpe Pa. which included a 1 hour ride on the Lehigh Gorge "Scenic" Railway. I'm not sure what annoys me more is it the $34 I spent for 2 tickets in the open air car or the 1 hour out of my life I will never get back.... More

I love everything about this railroad and everything it stands for. Jim Thorpe is a very small American mountain town that you will find many mom & pop type stores and restaurants. Then you have the railroad that is still privately owned and if your lucky and catch him at the station you can still shake the "mans" hand. Just... More

Beautiful train ride up the scenic gorge. Lots of changing scenery and can only imagine the beautify of the changing leaves on the ride. If you bike, try the Bike train that goes 3 times a year. Open cars are more expensive than closed but you can stand and take great pics. Closed cars would be a good choice in... More
