Description: The 1-hour, 16-mile round-trip follows the Lehigh River over bridges...
The 1-hour, 16-mile round-trip follows the Lehigh River over bridges, through Glen Onoko, into the Lehigh Gorge State Park. High-rising cliffs and mountain scenery surround the train along the route to Old Penn Haven. You will see hikers, rafters, mountain bikers, and wildlife around every curve of the railroad. You will learn about railroad lore, wildlife, flora, the history of the anthracite coal region, and the people who launched America into the Industrial Age.

This is probably the biggest attraction in town. The train takes a several mile path into the Lehigh Gorge. It is easy to see why this is extremely popular in the fall. The trains are almost always full and the conductors are full of information about the area. They are willing to answer any question and they walk through the... More

It was very scenic, but most of what you want to see is on one side of the train. Rocks and Trees, and rocks and trees. Grab yourself a burger and a shake before you board and you will have a good time.

I have wanted to ride on this train since I was a child. I was thrilled to see it in the station as we pulled into town and we quickly decided to go on a ride. It did not disappoint! The scenery was lovely and the narration was charming and informative. I hope to try their bike train some day,... More

Nice train with a variety of seating. I like the open cars. It rides along the river and biking trail. Half hour out, half hour back. Nice views thru the gorge

We took the bike train from Jim Thorpe up to White Haven and back. (Just the ride, without bikes.) Old coach cars with cane seating. Conductors provided a narration on the outbound run.

Husband and I took the train ride 25 miles up the gorge. It was a beautiful day, cool. Thank goodness for the enclosed passenger cars. The staff onboard were so nice and friendly, going out of their way to engage the passengers in conversation. Very knowledgable about the rail history and eager to answer all your questions. It was my... More
