The 1-hour, 16-mile round-trip follows the Lehigh River over bridges, through Glen Onoko, into the Lehigh Gorge State Park. High-rising cliffs and mountain scenery surround the train along the route to Old Penn Haven. You will see hikers, rafters, mountain bikers, and wildlife around every curve of the railroad. You will learn about railroad lore, wildlife, flora, the history of the anthracite coal region, and the people who launched America into the Industrial Age.

This is a must if you are visiting Jim Thorpe, It is like being in the early 1900"s. The scenery is something to see & if your lucky you can come across a lot of wild animals and also see the water falls, It is one of the most beautifull towns in the United States.

We visited in early October 2015, during the peak of autumn colors, selecting a weekday for our trip in order to avoid the weekend crowds. Despite a chill in the damp air, we selected to ride in an open-air car so we could enjoy the sound of the rails and an unfiltered view of the Lehigh River and Gorge. The... More

This is the train station from the late 1970's mini-series North And South with then unknowns Patrick Swayze and Kirstie Alley. Everyone I take to Jim Thorpe falls in love with the place and longs to return again and again. The train is comfy, though rather short. They simply back up the train and take you back to the station... More

Definitely worth a little sit down and take in the area. Take a snack or a drink (non-alcaholic) and your camera. At the moment, Santa joins in the fun, there are some sing a longs and candy canes so be sure to take the kids.

This is a great little thing to do during a stay in Jim Thorpe. The ride is approximately 70 minutes long and travels along the Lehigh River while going into Lehigh Gorge State Park. The conductor is very well-versed in the history and beauty of this area; you learn a lot! Sadly, we didn't see any of the wildlife that... More

It was too windy to bike so we took the scenic train and loved it. The scenery was beautiful even though the trees were bare. This allowed a better view of the mountains. Will be spectacular in the spring and autumn. The tour conductor was awesome

I went with my girlfriend on one of their trips where you load your bike on the train and go go a nice train ride and then the drop you and your bicycle off and you ride back... it was so much fun and very relaxing you certainly don't have to be fit or into bike riding to enjoy it...... More
