I just returned to our hotel after spending several hours in Jim Thorpe Pa. which included a 1 hour ride on the Lehigh Gorge "Scenic" Railway. I'm not sure what annoys me more is it the $34 I spent for 2 tickets in the open air car or the 1 hour out of my life I will never get back.... More

I love everything about this railroad and everything it stands for. Jim Thorpe is a very small American mountain town that you will find many mom & pop type stores and restaurants. Then you have the railroad that is still privately owned and if your lucky and catch him at the station you can still shake the "mans" hand. Just... More

Beautiful train ride up the scenic gorge. Lots of changing scenery and can only imagine the beautify of the changing leaves on the ride. If you bike, try the Bike train that goes 3 times a year. Open cars are more expensive than closed but you can stand and take great pics. Closed cars would be a good choice in... More

Last summer we went to Jim Thorpe.PA for the first time. We had so much fun riding the train. Who doesn't like a train ride? We rode in the open car which was nice to hear and see so much better. The seats are sideways so you can look straight out or stand. We are planning to return this Oct... More

When a grandparent takes their young grandkids on an outing, it's always nice to hear them say things like, "Papa, this is cool!", or "Can we go again?" amidst reminding them to keep their hands and heads inside the coach as it whizzes past sheer rock walls and angled outcroppings. What started out with the youngest (4) clinging to Mimi... More

If you have never been in the Jim Thorpe area this is a great place to start to get some history on the place and see what it all has to offer for recreation. It was fun riding in the open air seats and everyone was super friendly. Sit on the parking lot side to see the river views from... More

Came here in a beautiful July weekend with the family. The train was not crowded at all, but the trip was pleasant and the narrator talked about all the historical and scenic aspects as we went along. He sounded just like Paul Harvey from radio. The kids enjoyed, and it was very relaxing. Shorter trip than I expected.

This ride is scenic and pleasant. It seems to be more for smaller kids. I am sure it is a very beautiful ride in fall with the leaves changing. It was a nice ride with good narration and information about the area. I think it was a little pricey, but then, I haven't been on a train like this in... More

They give a nice history lesson and tell you places you should visit- you should do this first on your visit. They really hit on everything. It's a decent ride, but I expected it to maybe go around the mountain in a circle. The train just goes down 1 way and then the engine drives to the end of the... More
