The village itself has quite a nice feel and everything is pretty accessible by foot. Unless you are staying in one of the hotels at the peak of the Village where the uphill incline is quite challenging and quite steep for the not-so-fit. In the off-season everything is pretty much closed so it is extremely quiet but still very picturesque... More

We traveled here in the Easter School holidays and were still able to take advantage of the Thredbo Summer Package which included accommodation at Snowgoose Apartments, 3 day chairlift, 3 day leisure centre access, 3 days golf, 3 hours tennis court hire and 8 toboggan rides per person all for $750 for a family of two adults and two adult... Thredbo is roughly equidistant from Melbourne and Sydney but Victorians tend not to go there as there are a number of ski villages much closer to Melbourne and most regional centres. Sydneysiders more commonly go to Perisher for reasons that I can't understand. (Probably because it's bigger and flashier just like them.) Thredbo is a gem. The village is beautifully... More

Despite inclement weather we still enjoyed our recent stay at Thredbo. The chairlift is a must, with the restaurant at the top warm and offering good snacks. Walks along the river, especially upstream is most interesting with the various rock formations and native plants and birds in abundance. Disappointing the Memorial Church was not open, as it is quite beautiful... More

Unfortunately many of the locals show no magic during the off season, whether this is due to being so busy in the snow season they don't need to be I am not sure. The apartments we stay in were very good and the owners very helpful, if you are going to this town we highly recommend "Snow Goose apartments" warm... More

This must be fairyland stuff during winter and the skiing season. Rolling mountains and Mountain Ash tree abound. During summer there are plenty of scenic walks available

Although essentially a ski resort, the Thredbo Village had plenty to offer us on our four day visit in the April, pre-snow season. On our arrival we visited the Information Centre to obtain our Parking Permit (compulsory to be displayed at all times while in the Kosciuszko National Park & $16 per day - Pension Card holders free!), and obtained... we lived in the thredbo village for 4 days 3 nights, it was a wonderful holiday experience seeing the autumn leaves, treking to the summit before the snow falls. It is a clean and well maintained village. We will return.

I was on a Cross Country tour with senior school students. We hiked from the the village to the summit of Mt Kosciusko. The return trip took 6 hrs. We did walk from the village taking in the first 600m of altitude that most bypass by using the chair lift. The students enjoyed watching the mountain bike downhill riders. Walking... More
