I have recently returned from a most wonderful stay on lord Howe Island, an idyllic island to which I will one day return. During my time there I climbed Mt Gower and as such I am now the 'proud' (read foolish) owner of, not only a certificate that confirms that I did so and survived, a multitude of grazes and... More

It is a brilliant climb, so very glad we made it (Jack Schick is a brilliant guide), but definitely not for the feint hearted. Goat House Cave walk is a good preparation, but still only about a third as hard as Gower. It is truly spectacular to view the island from the top of Mount Gower, especially if you are lucky enough to have enough cloud at the top to have a rolling mist that opens to reveal the view and also provides a special dewy mountain atmosphere in the rainforest on the summit.

A massive thank you to our guide Jack, Lord How Island has been on my bucket list and Mt Gower was at the top of my list of activities. I was so excited when I got to Lord Howe Island and saw Mt Gower for the first time. It's breath taking! yes this is long hike and challenging but you... More

A beautiful mountain with spectacular views. I took numerous photos of Mt Gower and it changes with the sun and mist.

A great hike if you are very fit, and make sure you wear proper hiking gear. The views from the top are stunning

I am quite fit & healthy & hike a lot so looked forward to the recent Mt Gower climb last month. I found other reviews an interesting read & wanted to come out in support of the stragglers referred to by others:) it is a very difficult climb & includes a lot of rock climbing with ropes & very exposed... Fantastic experience on a guided hike, not for the faint hearted, or those with height fears. while utmost safety concerns are addressed - you literally walk along a ledge on one section - less than a metre wide. The views along the way and at the end are all worth it. Can't wait to return.

I'm a fairly experienced hiker and quite fit but this was definitely one of the hardest things I've done - both in terms of the challenging terrain (steep, lots of tree roots and rocks) but also in terms of the heights. There were several difficult parts if you are scared of heights but they are both fairly short. The pace... More
